WHy do you think some people should get a free ride? I earned what I have, no one gave it to me, why should I give it to some one else.
That's is one of the big problems in the world. Too many people looking for something for nothing.

I hate the way people say things like "well i worked for my money, why should they get a free ride", and "we have a right to do what we want with our hard earned cash".
If you work for your money, it's because you live in a place where you CAN work and earn a good living, because there is a good economy and jobs. You think people in underdeveloped countries are just lazy?! They don't have the choices you have, so how can you compare your life choices to theirs? They would love to have a job and earn money for their family like you do, but it's not an option for them. I feel lucky to live somewhere I can have this sort of life, but I am well aware that I could just as easily have been born to somebody else, in a different country, and have a different life.
To those of you skeptical about this particular cause- Putting someone in an underdeveloped country through university is a very worthy cause. They will be developing valuable skills to improve the situation for themselves and the people around them. But there's plenty of other causes that are being ignored too, this is just being used as an example.
To answer your question, some people are just f**king selfish and when it comes to needy people who live far away... if they can't see it, they won't even give it a second thought.
And to the guy who just posted below me, no business can be made from "nothing". It takes resources and it takes a market. I dont know what you were trying to prove by saying that- yes you work hard, that's great and I admire it- but you are lucky to be in a place where that's an option, we'll never know if some people from other countries could have done as well for themselves if given half the chance.

It may seem unfair to you, but life is unfair, They worked for the money they have and have the right to disperse it anyway they wish. The money that is donated to some of these underdeveloped countries over all of these years you'd think they wouldn't be underdeveloped. The monies are not being spent right, Do some investigation and you'll see.

Ok, this could apply to me, so let me ask you a question.
How much money have you got?
How much do you earn?
Let's say you have 4 grand in the bank and earn £1500 per month.
Right, i want you now to donate £2000 lump sum and £750 every month of your money to the people your talking about.
Why? because compared to them, YOU are a millionaire, in fact to some you are a billionaire so there's your answer.
Stop telling other people what to do and you donate half of what you have and half of everything you earn from now on.
Now, isn't that what you're talking about?
In fact, why aren't you doing it already?
Isn't it a good idea for all you people who winge about us 'rich' people giving all our money away to put your cash where your mouth is?
Thought not.
Oh and just for the record i employ over 200 people who have families and children and i've built up a company that has come from nothing.

after you graduate, and have your degree you will be on the other side of the fence.
You can't give all your money away to needy people, just a portion of it.
i give through charities at work,at wherever else i feel a need to give at my discretion. You don't know what people give,it is a generalized statement you made because you are angry that you are struggling with money now.
Once you start making money ,your viewpoints will change ,trust me on this one.

I used to think Bill Gates and Warren Buffett were miserly with their wealth, now I would rather hand my taxes to them than wasteful governments. In the end people have to choose where to give their excess money it's part of how capitalism works.
Once the wealthy gave money to schools and museums locally now some seem to give it overseas.
PS I wouldn't give it to overseas students.

with over 6 billion of us on this litle rock and only a few million with the means to help the others out it seems unlikely that we'll be forking out for tuition fees, in the time it took me to type this about thirty children have died due to starvation. makes graduation seem a little small.
ps if you go to college study economics, it isn't as easy as the rich giving to the poor

the thing with donating monies to students in other countries is that the person only receives a small percentage of the money if any at all. it is not a matter of greed but of trust. we should know exactly where our monies are going and the only way to do this is to see it in action.

You can donate money to these people all you want, do know where it gets you know where!
The money goes to their government and gets spent on something else like the Army etc. (Have you not noticed that these undeveloped countries governments are rolling in it, and seem to be buying more and more guns each year.)
I prefer to give my money to causes which I know will benefit from it

Unfair? Like it's a board game? They have so so much money because they worked so, so hard. They DO give it to people in need, but "in need' as they define it- which is probably their son or something.
