Did anybody actually get a sex talk from a parent using the phrase birds and the bees?

my mom didn't talk to me about those things. Heck, I learned more about periods from my dad!

I never did, and dont know anyone that did.
Its a cliche phrase popularised by the entertainment industry and taken for granted as being a commonly used phrase.
Beyond that, no tv show or movie i recall ever even explained in any detail about the birds and bees- apart from using the phrase itself.

That's funny, since my mom gave me and my brothers 'the birds and the bees' talk, parts 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Though there really wasn't anything about birds or bees in it...
