I always use Google to find sights and then just click on the link I know java takes up a lot of space and once you have it you can't get it off your computer

It depends if you want the java virtual machine to run java applications of if you want to be able to develop in java using the developer kit
If you just want to run Java I would go to http://java.com/download, since its the easiest way to get what you need.
If you are a developer you can download the SE SDK from http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp or for more specialised choices http://developers.sun.com/resources/downloads.html
