naga dorset is the hottest, recently discovered in england. they rate the hotness on what they call the scoville scale, this pepper rates a 900,000+. as a comparison a regular jalapeno pepper rates a 3,000.

Peppers contain capsasien an oil which is surprisingly good for the lining of the stomach and other areas of the body as in warding off colds. I believe the hottest is the habenero.

Capsaicin is the name of the compound that gives a pepper its hotness.
I think the Habanero is the hottest. You have to wear gloves to handle the plants/peppers because the oil will burn the skin on your hands.
