Whenever I visit the seat of a diocese (most big cities), I try to visit the cathedral.

With love in Christ.

If you go to Italy you will find lots of interesting shrines, like St. Anthony in Padua and St. Francis in Assisi. Also, there are places like Lourdes in France and Fatima in Portugal.

My favorite Catholic site to visit isn't open to the general public, so you will have to be creative to see it. When visiting The Vatican, I kept asking the tour guide to show us where the Church tortured the Atheists and Jews during the Inquisition. Of course he wasn't going to tell me , but throughout the tour, my continued repetition of the question triggered a glance in one direction. As the tour moved around, I was able to triangulate these glances which led me to a door which was sealed shut, but the hinges were so rusted, I was able to move the door and slip in. What I saw was beyond belief and has led me on a life-long mission to see it never happens again.
