Muslims actually follow the 10 commandments better than Christians... here is an excerpt from the 10 commandments
Then God spoke all these words: 2I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery; 3you shall have no other gods before me. 4You shall not make for yourself an image, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me,
see the part #4 about not having any graven images?.. why do christians ignore this command? are they better?

Because Muslim`s God is not a human being as Mary and Jesus, God in Islam religion is almighty, and in everywhere, He is the creator of all the universe, So how com the creature imagine the creator, God can not be visualized by people other wise he is not a God.

Muslims do have curators of Mohamed and only the Catholic Church and Anglican believe in having statues of Mary, St. Paul, etc. which is a form of idol worship. Just like how the children of Israel made the golden cafe to worship and stated that it was a representation of God which God still judged as idol worship.

There are images of some saints in Shiite sect but Islam really does not appreciate creating idols and calls these kinds of action creating partners for God which is a grave sin.
However people have a tendency to associate themselves with something visible and this weakness leads to the situation of today's religious practices. Lots of symbols with no content.

Simply put, Muslims are not idolators like Christians. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has expressly prohibited any kind of imagery in Islam. It is also one of the commandments which was handed down to Prophet Moses (pbuh) much earlier, by none other than God Himself.
As a matter of fact, early Christians didn't have any kind of the present imagery which you see today. This is a concept which came much later.

Technically Mary isn't God, and if you read the Bible you'd see there isn't any description of Jesus. Any depiction of Jesus would be an offense against the first Commandment.

Did you hear about the class of 5 year olds, doing painting at school?
Teacher was walking around looking at all their efforts.
She stopped beside one little girl and said. "What is your picture of Mary"?
Mary said. "It's God, Miss". The Teacher replied. "But Mary, no one knows what God looks like"!
"They will in a minute, Miss". Said Mary!

There are two parts lf your question.
One is about God's image and second is calling jesus(pbuh) a god.
Dear there are no images of GOD in any religion, whoever does it, it is just fake.
Second part of your question Jesus is not god as there is not a single statement in BIBLE which says that Jesus is god.

as Christians where not supposed to have it either exodus 20:4-5 tho shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above or that is in the earth beneath or that is in the water under the earth 5 thou shalt not bow down thyself to them nor serve them for i the lord thy god am a jealous god visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and forth generation of them that hate me now in Isaiah it talks about Jesus in 53:2 for he shall grow up before him as a tender plant. and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness and when we shall see him there is no beauty that we should desire him. and as far as Mary goes well that's a whole another question in its self . but as Christians were not to have these thing of Jesus and god .

Jews are the same. They do not show the image of G-d. G-d is -----that is it. G-d is. You cannot draw him, depict him in anyway. How can you show something that does not show himself----------will not show himself? Even to Moses, he only showed his back. G-d is too holy to put him at this same level as man.
Jesus and Mary lived 2000 years ago------people have no idea what they really looked like.
