I believe the ego lives in fear and the spirit only knows the truth. Yes the ego will be a major barrier to letting go of fear and embracing faith. The more we embrace faith the more the ego fights in fear.
Know that with each healing that is done on self is one step closer to oneness and becoming a master of your own destiny.
If we can embrace our ego and allow our spirit to be our driving force then we are progressing as spiritual beings and with that can only come liberation.
It starts with acceptance, tolerance and non judgement...however the ego thrives on fear and will continue to deliver more 'lack' into our lives as long as we allow it to.
Many people do not understand the ego vs spirit, to have any form of judgement is coming from ego. Ego identifies itself with duality living, our Spirit knows that the truth is living in Oneness.

yes it is the root of spiritual pride and holds us back from putting God first in our lives and inhibits our ability to love one another.
God is first
family is second
friends are third
I am last,( not a bad way to overcome the ego)
