You speak on a subject. It's a form of expression by converting thoughts into utterances. But talking is very similar to speaking. Academically, talking can be a lecture. Linguistically, it can be a conversation or speech.

I don't think there is any difference, except that you have to use one is some contexts and the other in other contexts. But I have to say that speaking sounds more important to me than talking.

talking is mumbling words.. while speaking is delivering an idea to a receiver....
