does the fuse blow when the light goes out - if so you probably have a short somewhere (or the wrong size fuse). if the fuse is not blowing, you probably have a faulty connection. or both!

You must have a short somewhere in the dash... Unfortunately I pulled the dash of my X's car to fix the exact same problem and never could find where it was or figure it out... she wound up just selling it.

could be a short, could be that the wiring isn't quite right anymore. take it to a shop and ask them. good luck!
