It's PERFORMANCE is excellent. It is a little sluggish just off the blocks, but the moment you cross 2000rpm there is a lot of torque available and you will be the fastest on the road. The suspension is great. If you are in a city with bad roads, you will know the difference when you pass other vehicles. The gearbox feels a little wishywashy but that's something to live with when you buy a huge conventional European-style hatchback at this price.
But the trade-off of a heavy body, soft suspension and a powerful 1400cc 70hp engine, is in the mileage. Don't expect more than 10kmpl in the city (rush hour) with the A/C on, and maybe a max of 13kmpl on the highway.

with 1400 cc engine the car gives 13-14 km/Lt average. cost-wise this car is economical ( abt 3.0 lacs). the car is more spacious then other cars of same category. The engine power of 1400 cc is marvellous - more than sentro, wagon R or even palio. if u can slightly over look the fuel consumption, I think it is the best choice. Being TATA vehicle, this must be less maintenance car. Least but not last is the after sales services where in TATA is amongst the best. Best luck

Hi indica xeta is a good car. I am planning to buy Indica Turbo DLX in next month. Why dont you consider turbo if you can extend your budget? It has almost same power[68ps] with 130NM torquey. Gets you good average and maintenance cost is also similar to the xeta.
Since Tata guys are new to petrol, i recommend you to go for Turbo as it rocks.
If you want to buy a petrol model, then consider Santro XIng or Alto LXi as an economical option.

Cheers,
Jay

Fuel comsumption is more. Looks more like any other taxi on road. But otherwise performance is good. Low initial cost. You can fit a LPG kit, works out better. Spacious inside.
