This is to Smart Cat.... You sound as though you work for the government or the pharmacutical companies the way you are going so strong about this.

If there are natural cures out there are you saying that chemicals are better than what god has given us?? OH don't tell me you don't believe in god either....

Vaccines cause ADHD? What caused my mother (born in 1932) & my grandmother (born in 1901) to be ADHD? They weren't diagnosed but they were ADHD, for sure! And my great grandmother took in a child I now highly suspect had Asperger's. He was likely born around the turn of the century.

Science is advancing, not only giving us more cures & preventative measures, but also giving us diagnosis's for conditions that have always been with us. So people end up wtih the impressions we are LESS healthy as a people than in previous generations. THAT IS A LAUGH!

More specifics on Autism.

Thimerisol, the mercury based preservative that many suspected caused autism, was removed from manditory childhood vaccines in 2001. The older batched made before 2001 expired in 2003. So one would expect the autism rate to drop. But it continues to rise! So thimerisol could not have been the cause.

While you always hear people say the stats are "1 in every 166" child born today will have autism, the actual stats are 2 to 6 out of 1,000, or somewhere between "1 in every 500" to "1 in every 166."

And that includes high functioning conditions such as Asperger's, which composes as much as 80% of those on the Autism Spectrum.

Asperger's is a condition which likely has been around for years, just undiagnosed. They may have just been labeled "geeks" & "oddballs." They are also frequently very functional. Some suspect Bill Gates has Asperger's. And some suspect Einstein was, too!

This accounts for a big hunk of the increase. Adding Asperger's to the spectrum could have increased the diagnosis rate 4 times over! Then you take into account that many autistic kids were likely to be just diagnosed "retarded" or "brain-damaged." Remember, up until the 80's, the common theory was that autism was caused my neglectful, unloving mothers. So you didn't have parents taking their kids to the doctors saying "I think my son has autism." And if a family doctor knew the mother was loving & attentive, he would be very likely to rule out the possiblity the child could be autistic. So the rates we see from previous generations are inaccurrately low.

So when you hear people say the rate of autism has increase a thousand fold, or something like that, this is comparing inaccuratley low stats of 40 year ago which only included SOME of the more severe cases of autism, compared to the possibly inflated stats of today which includes the likes of Bill Gates. Not exactly an accurate comparison.

Autism is NOT a new condition. It is just a newly recognized condition.

this is old news. Nobody knows if Thimerisol (the preservative in some vaccines) has anything to do with autism. autism MAY be the result of people with *mild functional autism* having children. I.e. you will find a lot of autistic children in silicon valley where programmers - (who have a mild form of autism - to be able to stare at code all day and comprehend it 12 hours per day - and have no social skills - like an autistic) find eachother and mate... thus producing a fully autistic child. this is true in silicon valley and near the IBM HQ in minnesota. There shouldn't be this abnormally high rate of autism in these populations. However, the parents are functionally mildly autistic...

This is not completely true. Some of these people are trying to scare us. Yes, certain chemicals are are bad (MSG, nitrates, artifical flavors and colors, etc.), but vaccines aren't proven to cause birth defects. Where did you hear that??? Check out this website with articles written by respected medical doctors for information to dispell some of the myths:

But yes, some chemicals are bad!!! It is always safest and healthiest to eat the most natural food you can buy. The more processed it is, the worse it is for your body. People eat way too many processed foods.

Not vaccinating your children can leave them blind, deaf, brain damaged or dead from childhood diseases. Salt and sugar are both preservatives and chemicals, water is a chemical, and so is the iron compound floating around in your bloodstream to carry oxygen to your cells. The words chemical and preservative are not synomous with poison. Vaccines you recieve do not harm your children, they give you the antibodies that protect you and some of which mothers can pass on to protect their newborns. Don't believe everything you are told, do your own research and educate yourself so you can adequately assess risks and benefits of things with some level of intelligent reasoning. Otherwise, you will be very easy to manipulate and fool.

None of what you are saying is new. Excessive use of salt in our foods causes many health problems as well.

The US uses enormous quantities of antibiotics and steroids in their meat supply causing humans to become resistant to antibiotics and obese from the steroids. Mad cow disease originated in the US because the large feed manufacturers like Purina made cattle feed from dead animals. Most countries do not even allow meat from the US into their countries. And we all allow it.
