I was bullied at my last school, by both males and females and wonder if this has anything to do with it. I feel really stupid about this. Help?

Hey. You are just gonna have to force yourself to talk to guys. It is tough as hell k. But once you start talking to them. Itll get easier, and easier. Being bullied would definately be a problem with your confidence. But you gotta build it back up. You sound cool, your lift yourself back up. And dont let others bring you down. You will notice once your outta school. You will hardly see anyone anymore, all them bullies will be gone. So if you cant fix yourself now, wait til you graduate. And you will meet all new faces in college, or a job or whatever you do. And build new confidence and reputation from there. It works.

The bullying has a lot to do with it. It's put you on the defensive and as a result, you try to hide from the situation to keep it from happening again. It's a normal response to bullying.
The longer you go without being bullied, the more confidence you'll gain. Until then, try looking people between the eyes, literally. It'll give them the feeling of your looking into their eyes, but you really won't be doing that.
Pick a spot on their forehead and look at that while you're talking to them and they'll never know the difference unless you tell them.

Dont worry about it as long as the new people dont bully you too. So long as the atmosphere is more relaxed than before & nobody else notices your shy behaviour, you should start to try & practice being more assertive. Stand tall & be proud. Bullies tend to pick on those who are introverted & dont have the ability to defend themselves. Similarly, people love to socialise with people who are proud & stand tall.

pretend you are looking at a nose instead of thinking you are looking at a person. I think it helps.
