Occults is usually a phrase describing those who are part of the belief systems of anarchy, alchemy, or chaotic paganism. They are what some would consider the "outcasts" because so many people look down at all three of those belief systems. They are usually hidden in small groups but large numbers of these groups exist.

Cults are active groups of people usually numbering in the upper hundreds and usually involve a whole town, like Charles Manson's "Helter Skelter" movement, who openly practiced violence in the name of a belief.

True occult practice could be considered gnostics,kabbalah,etc Or any forms of the mysteries that are based on hidden knowledge that co-exists among orthodox doctrines. At least that is the belief. I have not heard of much any true occult groups that are public in modern days. There was one small religion banned in China in recent times which were practicing metaphysics,levitating and forms of gnosis. I forget the name but if you recall a chinese female protesting when the Chinese president came over and was speaking with George Bush. Well the protest was for that religion.

cults: the term actually means "a small religion" rather than "flock of idiots that commit suicide".

occults: they believe in magick. in a young girl's heart. something another, whenever it starts. (i don't know the song).

so, um, yeah. a lot of the occult religions practice magick worship nature. These include wicca, and most any form of paganism or neopaganism. I guess you could toss satanism into the realm of the occult as well.

they dance around in circles. some of them have wands. they're big on nudism. it's unusual, to say the least.......
