In Islam:

- In Islam if a parent dies, the daughter must have her share in the inheritence

- In Islam if other family members die, the women must also have her share in the inheritence

- In Islam women are allowed not to work, but it is sinful if the husband does not provide for the family

- In Islam women are allowed not to work, but if she decides to work, then not a cent of her salary/money can be touched by the husband. The money is hers, and hers alone.

- In Islam a husband must allow the woman to visit her family

- In Islam a women will retain her maiden name and not change her family name after marriage

- In Islam women wear hijabs, and therefore the women are only judged through her intelligence and not the size of the bulges, the color of the hair, the tattoo, or even her beauty

- In Islam women must be given (at least) clothes, food, a house, and her "inner" needs by her husband

- In Islam women perform prayer easier than men (they don't even need to perform salat one week every month!)

- In Islam, the Fall of Adam and Eve is blamed on both of them, not just Eve.

In the Quran the is a Chapter called "The Women", which talks about the society's responsibility towards women and glorifying the women. No Chapter is called "The Men" or anything of the like.

Compare those points to the Christian Bible. You'll see that there are differences between Islam and Christianity, huge difference!

we have been given mixed messages regarding the islamic faith and the treatment of women.
varying views abound, most ordinary folks have no idea who or what 2 believe anymore!
is the full-face veil cultural or religious?
we've been told both but others have said it's demeaning.
we've been told that islam condemns the loss of innocent lives, where others have said it's ordered by Allah.
the average, western, christain stands on the side-lines waiting 4 the Islamic faith 2 explain it's self once and 4 all.

I don’t completely agree with you. Of course I agree that women enjoys rights in Islam; but in other religions also women enjoy equal rights as in Islam.

In Hindus’ belief, women are treated as equal half of their husbands. We enjoy that rights even now.

If I’m correct, in Christian belief a man and his wife are treated as equal partners.

Even with all these beliefs and theories, women are treated badly by men and other women all around the world irrespective of their color, creed, beliefs, nationalities.

I strongly disagree 100%. Actually . Islam is the most oppressive cult in the treatment of women in the entire world.
Islam even condones the raping of little girls.
Islamic Shara Law even makes it legal for a man to beat his wife,or lock her away, until she starves TO DEATH.
I hope this enlightens you as to how women are treated under Islamic law.

AGREED! women have more rights, more protection, and more respect within Islam. take from a Muslim revert that used to be a model. what the west views as advancement and power for women is actually very degrading. Islam and the Muslim people as a whole love, respect, and cherish their women.

***this is just my opinion. i feel this way b/ i've lived on both sides

salam to all

of course... Can't you see how free the women in the middle east are? The honor killings are proof that women can be free to do as they please without consequence.
