okay, i grew up in a christian environment ( methodist church) most of my childhood. i know in my heart that there IS a god... a power higher than us, but i feel that religion itself is a man made thing. since i dont doubt that there is a "god" i wouldnt excatlly be agnostic... so my question is, what would i be called. i feel that i can have my own personal relationship with god....

No, it's not about religion or anything else; it's about you! JC. Stop "beat'n around the bush", how can you believe in God but yet question religion; when they are both... "man made". Now i'm with you when referring to God as a "higher power"; but I ask you in all honesty... what's the difference...?
As for your question?.. "What would I be called, I feel I have my own personal relationship with (???). Well, can't help you there because I don't know of anyone, God or Not, who can answer that question better than you... Sincerely.

You would be called the same as me. I don't go to church but I believe in God. If you believe Jesus was Gods son you'd be called a Christian, like me. You're 100% right you're relationship with God is personal, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

How does "spiritual" grab you?
A lot of folks - myself included - belive there IS some form of higher power / supreme being - but like you, are not intersted in all the "man made packaging" that goes around it. Far more interested in the core truth.
For many of us, "Spritual" seems to sum things up nicely.

Simply... seriously... and lovingly....
try putting all that you hear in the media behind your back, and take a deep look into Islam... You'll worship God for yourself, no father, no pope, no nothing.
Your relationship with God will be personally, and spirituality. You'll love yourself for it. beleive me.

If you believe in a deity but aren't involved in any particular religion, you would probably just be called a theist.
