who believes in life after death?

personaly i do, becuase if the was no life after death, then this life wouldnt make sense. becuase what would be the purpose of this life if you know when you die your just going to sit in your grave.

so i think this life is a test, and that one day we will be judged by God, on the things we did in this life.

Of course I do. It actually doesn't make sense to me that people don't. There would be no point to our existence. I aim to be a good muslim, but also enjoy this short life, so that I could have a better life in the hereafter. And to not have that aim, is just...pointless. You get a good education, get a job, you're successful, then suddenly you DIE! And its all over? I don't think so! There must be more to it. If no one has experienced death and can tell us exactly what happens, then what right to they have to tell us that there is no proof in life after death and so it doesn't exist. Obviously there's no proof, dead people don't come back to life do they? There are certain things Science can't explain, but religion can, and one of them is life after death.

I believe in life after death, in the sense that when you die, you then enter into another life. I agree with you, what would be the purpose of life if death was nothing. I dont see life as a test but more of a lesson. I also dont think God will judge us, (good/bad) but more likely put us back here until we learned the lesson.

The Bible says in Ecleciastes 9:5 " The living are conscious that they will die;but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all". The Bible says in John5:28,29 ...."Do not marvel at this , because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice(the voice of Jesus) and come out" So persons remembered by God will be resurrected with the opportunity to live forever. So in this sense there is "a life after death".
Without believing in the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ , the understanding that he gave his life for us , so that we can gain everlasting life , the whole foundation for the Christian faith becomes in vain.

But does there NEED to be one, though? If you suddenly found out for sure that no afterlife exists, would that somehow take away from your life right now? Would you not be able to enjoy the same things you usually enjoy? Would you not be able to live your life and get anything out of it?

I think you surely would be able to. I don't know whether an afterlife exists or not, and we can all argue about that issue from now until the end of time, but truthfully, I don't think it matters. The nonexistence of an afterlife doesn't render this life pointless. We're all here right now, so we should be living for right now regardless... and if it's really just a pit of nothingness over the cliff of death then, well, so be it.

I do not accept a personal survival after death. Just a recycling process. There is a story about two waves making their way across an ocean. The first wave sees the shore and says to the second wave, " Look out, we are going to be dashed to pieces on the shore, We are going to be destroyed!"
The second wave, being a bit older and wiser says, "Take it easy, you are made of the ocean, you were the ocean before you were an individual wave, after hitting the beach , you will still be the ocean." We are all just waves on the ocean. So take it easy. you can come around again, but will you be the same wave? or a different wave? or maybe just the ocean expressing itself? Be well.

If your beliefs make you happy then keep believing. I personally don't think there has to be a purpose to our lives besides leaving a legacy of some sort, be it children to continue the species or inspiring others to be better or simply living a happy life without harming or abusing others.

You are right, there is life after death. There are also past lives.....
So we definitely have a responsibility to do what we can to improve the conditions we are observing and experiencing around us as we will all inherit the tomorrow we create today.

Not me. Belief in life after death is due to mans inability to accept death as final. No god, no devil, no heaven, no hell. I know this may sound bleak and make life seem pointless but what evidence is there for anything else. Please don't site the bible or Koran they were both written by human beings with no Divine help and a lot of people are gullible enough or desperate enough to accept them. Most religions rely on blind faith and if that suits or fulfils your needs fine.

I do not believe in anything else but the life we have now. To look for a reason is fine, but to search outside the realms of reality, the here and now,is delusional at best and insanity at worst. If there was a higher power that created the earth , universe, us. The least we can do is use our ability to find the reason , if any , for our existence.
