I am on birth control and have been for two years and i'm on the shot. I want to change birth control because i been have headaches and cramps when i don't have my period. I want to change to the pills because i think that my headaches might go away if i change birth control. but my sister tells me to get off of birth control for a little while and let myself clean the birth control out of my body. What do you think i should do?

I have been on the shot for many years with great success. If you decide to go off the shot you may be looking at up to a year before your body recovers. Keep in mind you have not been building up a uterine linning for all this time assuming your periods ceased while on the shot (most women do get that). Speak to your doctor especially if you plan on having children in the near future. The shot is not for everyone.

I think you should ask your Dr for advice on this. I'm assuming it's okay to just go ahead and change after you are done with the shot, and then start the pills the next month. However let me warn you - ***all three of my hubby's cousins who were switching birth control methods, ended up pregannt!!!!*** So be careful!
