An acquaintance of mine has the following symptoms, she knows what her illness is but won't let me know. (this is not the problem, don't give me comments on the fact that she's keeping it a secret.)

I only have 3 symptoms for you to analyze this:
a) Strictly Vegetarian - I don't know why but she's not allowed to eat large amounts of meat.

b) Dry skin - she once told me that she has to put lotion evarytime cause it dries easily ( her skin doesn't look psoriatic)

c) YOU CAN IGNORE THIS ONE. She seemed to have um, peculiar hair, I can't describe. I saw her pictures back then and her hair seemed to be really thin and seemed to fall (not sure at all)

I know that u can't discern the illness easily by just those 3 symptoms, but as much as possible, give me the most believable and possible answer please.

PS She looks very very pale.

Ignore the cancer suggestion. Heart trouble, dietary issues and a misinterpreted instruction is my diagnosis.

Zinc deficiency or eczema explains the skin problem, and zinc would also cause hair problems by leading to protein deficiency. Check for iron deficiency, which would lead to pale skin and anemia, as well as possibly hair loss http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=62062

Just the vegetarian diet could also explain protein deficiency and hair/skin issues if she hasn't been getting all her amino acids by eating a variety of vegetables.

A medical reason not to eat meat is very, very weird. The only way to explain a total ban on meat is either a very improbable set of food allergies http://www.labspec.co.za/l_meat.htm or she is interpreting her doctor's instructions wrong.

Perhaps she has heart problems on top of everything else, and her doctor told her to avoid foods high in cholesterol like most meats. Make sure that she is interpreting what the doctor said correctly: a nice grilled salmon would probably do her a lot of good nutritionally and the omega-3 oils would help her heart. Get her to take a multivitamin too.

Did any of that sound right?

She may have cancer... And need to be on a low protein... I mean animal protein. My dad and sister in law had dry skin fromt he meds and stuff they were taking and the hair thinned out alot.

But not a doc so can't tell you for sure but you asked for some feedback and I am just adding your experience and mine together ....

Good Luck just let her know you are by her side no matter what...
Have you thought she may not want to tell you for fear of rejection.

sounds like she is ANEMIC..
lack of iron ( iron deficiency ) can explain these symptoms..plaus the fact that she does not eat meat, means she is not getting any red meat in her diet..
She needs to start on suppliments immediatly and she will be able to overcome the ANEMIA..
ps..this is nothing that is contagious...it comes from poor nutrition/lack of nutrients the body needs to thrive

DumbWhoreSyndrome. Dumbwhores with DWS will often listen to stupid hippie pseudo-doctors that tell them not to eat meat and have dry skin, cuz, well, they deserve it probably.
