Depending on the age of the participants, I think they shoud be judged on the following:-
Confidence (Both with the audience and themselves)
Competance in their chosen Talent.
Originality (so you don't get twenty kids all singing 'I believe I could fly', one after the other.)
Effort put into appearance (such as costume, props, scenary, etc)
And finally a score for the crowd's appreciation of the participant. It always happens that you may not like a talent, but the people in the audience love it. So they should get extra points for picking a skill that has wide-public appeal.

Presentation (could include costume, makeup, props)
Skill (for prowess on musical instrument or whatever)
Showmanship (how well they introduce themselves and respond to the crowd, bow etc)
Audience Appreciation (how much everyone likes it)
Originality (allows people who do strange brave things that otherwise kind of suck to get some points behind them)

Sounds like fun, hope you have a good one!
