the cranberry juice will not get rid of the infection. you need to see a docotr to clear this up. try cranberry capsules if you dislike the juice, or try mixing it with something you do like. also plenty of water and other juices will also have nearly the same effect.
good luck

The cranberry juice will not clear up the UTI Infection, you will need an antibiotic from your Physician for that. What the cranberry does is it stops the infection from clinging to the walls of the bladder, and in that way it will pass out of the bladder I prefer the fresh cranberry cooked with a little sugar and perhaps some mandarin oranges with them, and included with my meal of chicken, turkey or pork .I find this much more palatable than the juice, and include it with my meals whenever possible.Even after tthe infection has cleared up. Drink a lot water, and get well soon.

I have had a couple of those... mine just cleared up by themselves though. Cran capsules are probably much better than juice. The refined sugar or high fructose corn syrup in cranberry cocktail is a bad idea, especially when you have some sort of infection. (if someone out there who reads this has a bladder infection and just HAS to have their sweet treat, then at least get the kind that is sweetened with other fruit juices) You want to drink a lot of water.

On top of that, cleaning up your diet in general is a good idea. There are probably herbs that help... I'll look online and edit this in a sec. Echinacea/goldenseal might be one. I bet a B complex or a multivitamin is smart. Make sure you know what acid/alkaline diets are. I wouldn't eat red meat. Garlic has antibiotic properties. I use Kyolic brand garlic capsules when I take garlic. They are actually almost odorless.

well, this site looks very well informed:
http://www.herbs2000.com/disorders/bladder_infection.htm

Check it out... from what I know I would say that the information is accurate. (Although I will always skip over anything labelled "homeopathy" until some good evidence hits me over the head)

I would say definately try vitamin C... get big 1000 mg horsepills and pop 'em throughout the day. Take 5 to 10. If you get diarrhea, reduce the dose to 4-5. Zinc is always smart and you should probably be taking it every day anyway so get some of that. For garlic, if you don't want to try Kyolic every day to boost your immune system, just get a clove of garlic and find a healthy dish with lots of it. Get some yogurt or Kefir yogurt drink, and of course the cran capsules. (actually I've never felt like cran was helpful for me, but who knows)

Make sure you're not doing anything to compromise your immune system, and if you get any other symptoms (fever, severe pain, back pain, or blood) then get to the doctor right away. Also, if it doesn't clear up, get to doctor.

I spent about 2 years of my life with chronic UTIs. I basically found that once you have one there's no easy way to fully get rid of it without antibiotics. Cranberry pills and juice (natural, unsweetened) can help prevent one but not really cure one. The only thing to do once you know you have one is make a doctor's appointment and buy AZO uti pills that get rid of the symptoms. Take the pills until you can get to the doctor. The pills do nothing to rid you of the infection but they make you feel MUCH better.

When I had my worst UTI experience, I drank gallons of unsweetened cranberry juice and a little while later my symptoms totally went away. Weeks later I had a dull ache in my back. I felt fine otherwise so I did nothing. I thought it was sore back muscles and I was taking Advil for it. A couple more weeks went by and I was unable to stand upright and I was going in and out of a delusional fever with chills. I finally went to the emergency room and they found that I had a kidney infection. Apparently my UTI hadn't really gone away when I thought it did. They said if I had waited any longer I would have had abscesses in my kidneys and kidney failure.

Go to the doctor as soon as possible. I have had a couple of those and if they are not treated immediately you could get a urinary tract infection which I can tell you are NO fun at all. Extremely painful. Go to the doctor so you can get antibiotics. Drinking cranberry juice and tea will not cure it. They may alleviate pain but trust me the infection will still be lingering and it will get worse.

i hate cranberry juice too and i'm prone to bladder infections (been hospitalized twice for it getting into my kidneys)

i mix mine with sprite and it seems to help some. you can also try mixing it with another juice (apple or grape work best)

but you should really be seen by a dr. the juice will only help the symptoms-it won't make the infection disappear. you will need antibiotics to clear it up....

If you do not desire cranberry juice, cranberry capsules can be substituted. They can be found in most health food stores. Always take these with a large glass of water.

Green tea is also an effective diuretic and eliminates free-radicals from the body. Try drinking a bunch of it, but space it out because of the caffeine and be sure to drink water too.
