Work? Being a friend to a girl is work? Why do you want to do forbidden work? I'm thinking you maybe want to be more than just friends with this girl? You need to clarify your question a bit more for the best answers.

well, that really is a difficult problem. you know what, God never puts you into a situation in which you cannot handle. try to befriend her secretly. or else, try sending her letters to communicate with her. if it is really forbiden, then you've got to abide with the rules.
but for the first place, why is it forbiden to befriend a girl if your intention is not bad especially if she is your classmate? ask for God's guidance my friend. He will surely help you.
