you can love someone and not be in love with them. but that can only last so long. we only been together for a few months -yeah i love you but not in love with you YET- okay. We been together two years- I love you but not in love with you -then there is a problem. Ask him flat out WHY. then if you dont like the answer and fell like nothing is going to change and this bothers you, move on there is plenty of people out there that are willing to fall in love with you and actually mean it.

"I love you", in a lifetime how many people do you say that to? Think about all the different types of love, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, lovers, life partners, sons, daughters........that is without even thinking.
When someone says I love you but I am not in love with you, don't you think they might mean that they love you as a friend, as a lover, as someone really special in their lives....but not in a lifelong partner sense?
It isn't a bunch of bs...it says they love who you are and they wish it could be different but they just don't feel in love with you. Some great friendships have developed from this

No. I love you is something you would say to a family member. To be in love with you means so much more. I'm not in love w/ a family member. It's just to separate the different kinds of love you can have for different people.

I think you can love someone like you love your family and friends, the other kind of love is to actually be in love with a partner.

I love my family but i'm not in love with them but I am in love with my husband and if we divorce I will always love him but I won't be in love with him because I will hate him!.....I do think there is a difference between love and in love. You can love your children but the love for a partner is different...they turn you on sexually!!!

totally disagree with you. i love my mom, but im not IN LOVE with her. love represents a concern for some one, a deep feeling of affection. IN love adds to that, a certain intimacy and desire. love is many things, and exists on many levels with different people.

I love you but I am not in love with you, also equals love you like a brother/friend/cold sore. Its an attempt to say I am not the one for you nicely, or to let you down easy.

I love you is very general, eg love your car, dog, parent, boat etc BUT in love means deeply in love... no one else...usually used between lovers. Of course you are not lovers with your car!!! Therefore can not be in love with your car.

its simple.
you can go to your mom and tell her you love her.
thats one thing.
or you can go to your mom and tell her youre in love with her.
thats the wrong thing.
I love you is something you can say and feel to anyone you care about. Friends, family, etc..
Being "In Love" is something you share with just that one special person that makes your heart beat a little faster.

love can mean many things.
I love my old boyfriends, but I'm not IN-love with them. I love them in a brotherly/sisterly way; I care.
It's a way to care for another.
It's a way to show charity.
It's a way to feel love.
And it can be romantic too.
To be "in-love" means to be "In romance".
There is a big difference.
