Dogs normally eat grass when they have a tummy upset or worms. When a dog eats grass, they are usually sick afterwards. Have you wormed him recently.

Most dogs eat grass at some time. I have several dogs and they often 'graze' when they come across a particular type of grass. This type of grass doesn't make them vomit - they just seem to like eating it.
A couple of them particularly like a plant which grows wild. I looked it up and discovered that it is very good for the digestion.
Occasionally, when they are not feeling well they will search around for a specific type of grass that does make them vomit so they obviously know what they are doing.
BUT I don't let them eat any leaves because I don't know what are harmful and what are not. Similarly I let them eat herbs in my garden but I know that many garden plants are harmful so I am careful about what I plant and what they have access to.
To go back to your question - if your dog doesn't seem to be doing itself any harm by eating grass and it isn't doing it all the time - let it.
As far as the leaves go you might have to teach your dog not to pick up things or to give them up when you tell him to.t

"Eating grass is basically a normal behavior for dogs, one which experts have given varying theories as to why they do this. Some believe that since dogs commonly vomit after eating grass, they eat grass in order to vomit. They may have an upset stomach or have eaten something bad and thus feel compelled to induce vomiting. Those who believe this think then that it's important that you not discourage your dog from eating grass when he feels so inclined. Another theory is that, in the wild, the normal diet of canids like wolves and foxes includes grass, whether they're actively seeking it out or eating herbivores. Because of this then, grass can also be considered a normal part of a dog's diet. And yet another theory is a rather simple one. Dogs eat grass simply because they like it. In fact, there may be certain species of plants and grasses that are particularly appealing to dogs. Unless your dog is eating grass excessively, it's really not a concern and you needn't be worried about it. "

Eating grass and leaves won't hurt your dog, but if he is destroying your lawn, you can purchase a product called "Bitter Apple" at any Petco or Petsmart, it comes in a green and white plastic bottle with a sprayer on top, pretty cheap, maybe $4-5, and has a very bitter taste that dogs don't like, spray it on your lawn and or flowers, there are no toxins or anything that will hurt your grass or plants because it is all-natural. You will probably have to respray every month or so and after rainy days.

Keep him from going outside. They either eat grass because their stomach is bothering them or simply because they like it. I never saw a dog eat leaves though you got me there.

Your dog needs some medication as this is a way of letting you know that it is poorly...he eats the grass to clean out his stomache

Its normal - some dogs do it more than others. The only way to stop him is to actually physically intervene when he starts and distract him with a game or a treat.
Unless it is a particular problem and hes eating your garden, just leave him to it.

Take it to the vet. Eating grass is usually a response to the dog having a gastric problem.
