God is both external reality and an internal reality. And for God, nothing is external or internal. He is just "Here". We have an example of air. As air is everywhere, in the same way God is everywhere. when we blow air in a balloon , this balloon takes a shape and it becomes a separate entity and when we pinch a pin the same air comes out and it merge in the external air.
We are human beings and we have limits so for spiritual practice in the starting we need external materials like idols or gurus etc. But we should keep in mind that it's only for those who have no deep insight or for those who cann't concentrate on an abstract object. Later on we should proceed towards internal God . Because there are some limitations externally. Internally God is available everytime for you.

Both. He is an "external reality" in that evidence of Him exists throughout all of Creation. He is an "internal reality" because His very Spirit lives inside believers. Understanding these two realities is life changing.

God can be felt, sensed & embraced internal and externally.
The world and its beauty and all manifestations with it are God`s physical creation. If you respect His creations, you will find your respects too from these creations of God. If you are in great danger and you ask His help...He`ll send you an angel. You may not know it, but it is there right in front of you.
If you`re too private, but communicative to Him through your whispering mind, speaking heart and grasping spirit...God`s spirit is a willing communicative one communing with you in whatever manner you want it to be...every seconds of your life, 24 hrs a day, 365 or 366 a year.
Just talk to Him anytime of your life...and He`s always there, just
waiting for your willing call of love.

Both. As an external reality He is Sovereign and in control of all creation. As an internal reality He is alive in me.

Props to an excellent question!
God can be both BUT, the greater reality, to me, is the external reality. That is why we have the mystery of the Incarnation, God becoming man through Jesus Christ. He manifested Himself to show us--physically-- His love.
And when God's love manifest itself in us, it's a great beauty that we can feel pity on the helpless, but the external reality of us reaching out to help the unfortunate is just as great. =^) God bless.

Both! and the implications? Live wholly holy! or at least as much as you can; and for the times you can't, be sure to confess and forsake the wrong, then get up on your feet and give 'er another try...

God is not on the outside ... only inside. (So *internal*) You will not find "Him" outside the temple of your own body.
The kingdom of heaven is within. To find God, you must go inside the temple of your own body -- the third eye. Here you will find all the answers. (Not in a temple of brick and mortar - not anywhere on the physical plane.)

He is circular that way and any where you find him..you will reach the other side
If we succeed in finding him ourside us...then we will know he is inside us too
If we succeed in finding him inside us...we will know he is outside too all around us
The question is finding him...other things become clear afterwards
