why dont you go up to him and ask whts the solution to the problem....tell tht bloke tht you have to work tht is why you set alarm at a particular time...if he says buy a silent alarm, tell him tht you tried but it didnt work and you couldnt get up in the morning....

Its important if you and your neighbours are at good conditions, no matter wht its your neighbour, sometimes neighbours are helpful, u never know whn your neigbour will be useful to you. As a good citizen you shld go up to him, speak to him nicely and with respect and ask him for a alternative solution, tht will raise up your respect and care for your neighbour.... he will respect you...but if he is a real jerk then you shld complain to the management around your apartment or flat so in future if he creates any problem, the management will know tht he is the trouble maker....

no matter wht mate, we shld be diplomatic...afterall, diplomacy wins at the end...

goodluck mate....i m at your side...

a similar case when i was studying in Perth, Australia for the first time....as i was new to the city, i lived in a apartment which was something like a dorm...rooms are closely connected and the walls were not tht all sound proof....i used to set up alarm at precisely 6 am, i had a quality management class to attend...without alram it was impossible for me to wake up....my neighbour was bugged by the sound of alarm every morning at 6am, he came up to me in a rude way and started to blast at me...i almost lost my temper but i tried my diplomatic way...i told him, so sir, plz advice me wht shld i do? whts the alternative solution...if you can advice me a proper substitute i will gladly follow, afterall i want my neighbour to be happy, i said to him....there and then, he apologised to and said tht he was being unreasonable....after tht, my neigbour even looked out for my things and respected me as a friend...when i moved out he gifted me an alarm cloack, i still have it....

At the end, i was the winner....

I live in an aprtment building and we can all hear a lot between the walls. When my alarm goes of early, I make sure to turn it off ASAP. When I work nights and come home to bed in the morning, I have a fan that I run in my room (I face it toward the wall in the cool seasons) and I shut the door, I don't hear a thing. We are mindful of each other's peace and quiet. If we have to speak to someone about something, we do it nicely. We by the way are not necessarily "friends" with one another, just considerate. Kind consideration will go far, even in confrontation. Don't engage in battle.

Hi there your alarm clock is not that loud is it ? or maybe you sleep with the window open ? your neighbour could be old and moody this might account for their odd behaviour in whinging about your alarm clock, what would they say if it was a dog barking all the time, but then they ought to understand that some people have to get up in the morning to earn a living instead of lazing in bed all the time,, take to notice of them, they just might find something else to moan about.

in the eyes of the law no you not being unreasonable. as long as the noise isn't above a certain DB level and is not happening during the hours of 23:00 to 7:00. then you are entitled to let your alarm clock ring all day.

i know that modern houses are built of paper and sound carries easily but i do think your neighbour need to get a life

If you leave the alarm to ring for ten minutes instead of turning it off when it starts, he has a valid complaint. If you turn it off promptly, then he is being over sensitive.
You cannot adjust the volume on clocks, but some are quieter than others. You could suggest to him that he may present you with one that meets his requirements in terms of decibels.

If I were you I would reset your alarm clock for 10 minutes after you leave the house in the morning for about 2 days in a row. I bet he'll long for the good ol days when he only had to hear it for 15 seconds

Of course you're not being unreasonable. Unreasonable would be getting up, turning the radio on really loud, accidentally dropping things on the floor, and slamming the door on your way out. Not that I'd suggest anything like that of course, **looks away and whistles**!!

If your unable to turn it down then no. if you can turn it down but choose not to you're rude. do you live in an apt? We each have to try to be a little more considerate of those around us. I'm sure he'll get over sleeping normally just give him time.

Yeah , people understand only one thing nowadays sadly, harsh language and physical retaliation. They will go to hell at the end of their fantastic lazy life and I hope they get chained to a big ben sized alarm clock that will go off every 5 seconds, hey! throw a dutch oven in for good measure too! Yipeee! :-)
