it actually does, contrary to what most say. it is uncertain how long it is, but the best way to tell is that your scotch will start to become cloudy and it will even have a different smell. it usually takes awhile, about a year. and you have to leave it open. it happens to my scotch at the bar that people don't drink fast enough and my bartenders leave a pour spout on as opposed to a lid. the air is what makes it spoil.

As long as you keep it closed, it will last until you reach the last drop, whenever that may be. The only thing that will affect it, due to the preservative nature of alcohol in the quantity found in Scotch, is if it's left open so the alcohol can evaporate away.

Whiskey is not perishable and after bottling the only way the taste can be affected is by adding something to it or by leaving it open and thus allowing evaporation. (improved flavor with age is only cause while still in the barrel) Keep your bottle tightly sealed and it will hold well. Don't use those little pour spouts you see at bars, they empty bottles faster than a skid row drunk. If you are really a fanatic you could use a vacuum system to get the excess air out but it isn't really necessary.

Only if you leave it opened or keep it under bright light or heat. Alcohol evaporates naturally in room temp. If a certain percentage of the alcohol in the scotch is lost, (or any liquor), it will taste off.

It's alcohol, and alcohol doesn't go off, it's a preservative.... it might loose some of it's tasting qualities, but I don't believe it has a shelf life.
