Being sad or depressed over a long period will affect your health in so many ways. It lowers your immune system so you are more likely to pick up bugs/viruses. Can reduce appetite, or do the opposite and make you want to binge. Can make you unable to sleep, or unable to stop sleeping. You can develop skin problems such as eczema- the list is endless.

Well Yasmin I am an expert at sadness. Due to life changes that have left me disabled, friendless, lonely(no partner), small income, I am stuck in a situation that will last the rest of my life and I have not been able to accept it and I dont think I ever will. I have become a very bitter person who is always angry, have lost all hope for a better future, depressed, cry a lot, am mean to people without knowing it and am fed up with my life. The only solution to my sadness will be to get the nerve to kill myself and end my misery. Hope that answers your question.

first of all thanks for the advice, however if you read my question you would see that it says we live together so i cant leave the house for the weekend every time his kids are around. Not only would that send the wrong message,it would give them the impression to continue behaving like that and that wouldnt solve the problem.he is the head of his house and should stand up to his kids and let them know that he runs the house not them and shouldnt be told by his kids or anyone who to date or who to live with.if he doesnt or i do what you suggested which is to leave the home i live in every time they come, just to please them then they will think they can come between us.dont forget their mother is 20 yrs younger than him and is now dating someone else 10yrs younger than her so would you also advice him not to be in the house when the kids are there too?i dont think this is the right way to solve the problem.and you never said anything about the 15 yr old calling her dad a Paedophile in my presence because he is with me or is that kind of behavior acceptable too?

It takes away your Appetite, you feel broken, weakens your body, Actually, the sadness a person feel is ONLY important for that person, People around you cannot feel it so they say to forget it, skip it, smile..but its not that easy..i believe that crying a lot is the only thing that can take away the sadness inside our selves. Also talking to a friend could help a little bit too..but depends on the friend.

The side effect, I think, is even more misery and sadness.
Sorry you feel so sh..t! You need to find someone to tell why you feel like that. Someone who doesn't know you so they can give you unbiased answers to your problems.
You're in a depression (so am I) but you can't quit until/unless you've tried (sincerely) to help yourself get past it.

Apart from just being a grumpy sod...
Trying looking at the world through the eyes of someone in Iraq, Africa, China, Afghanistan. Trust me your problems compared to the instability in the world are minor. So take yourself to lunch, buy something new and smile...

We are all sad because the world has gone to hell. In turn they put us all on medication, give us a label, and we are zombies like those who are just naturally born that way who are just zoned out, and appear happy.

prolonged persistent sadness might lead to depression. depression is curable but its a bad phase.
so before catching it, we shud b optimistic, try and b happy no matter what. watch funny stuff instead of blue and bleak. freak out, get involved in work and more likeable work
all the best
