The #1 way to prevent catching other peoples colds/flus is by practicing good hand washing and good hygiene. It is more than likely the poor hygiene of others that your body succumbs too!

Keep in mind that no matter how well you take care of yourself, stress can take its toll on the body and weaken us leaving the body open for germ bombardment.

If you are gonna boost any particular vitimin intake, I would suggest vitimin C. Drinking Danactive or Activia durring cold and flu season or durring tims of stress may also help boost your immune system because of the active enzymes they have for immune health. Keep in mind though, too much of a boost in vitimin intake can be not just an overload, but even toxic!

Check out the chapter on building immunity in the Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine by Murray & Pizzorno
Limit or eliminate sugar; rest; drink lots of water; high potecy multiple vitamin; vitamin c w/ bioflavinoids 3-4 grams daily; Zinc 30 mg daily; Thymuplex; Echinacea; Astragalus are all discussed in the text. Also read the chapters on a healthy life style. Good luck!

The best solution for you is both predictable and a product of common sense: healthy diet and exercise. Ask yourself how healthy your diet really is, do you genuinely eat a lot of fruit and vegetables every day? What do you snack on? How much fat is in your diet? Most of us can do better with our diets and a great deal of scientific research has been published showing the health benefits of good diets.

The same scientific underpinning exists for the benefits on our health of regular exercise. It is a scientific fact that fit people get fewer respiratory infections.

It just occurs to mention smoking too, I assume you're not a smoker, if you are then you have just found why you get regular respiratory infections.

Finally, do treat all answers here (including this one of course) with due caution. Claims such as "spice draws out the toxins" are I am afraid utter nonsense, ask yourself is there any scientific basis for such bald statements. If not then disregard.

Hi Andy, yes, two things.
One, try eating food with a lot of ginger, if it is fresh, all the better, it boosts your immune system very well.
The other is any food that is very spicy, the spice draws the toxin out of your body.
Last, get sleep, enough food, and try and stray away from the things that bring you into conflict and stress.
Good luck, may you be well.
