The most popular answer to my last question 'why is it a sin to be gay' was 'because god/the bible says so'. So here's my next question. If you really think that it's a sin to be gay, in your version of reality all gay people will be going to hell. So if god will punish them forever for their lifestyle, why do you have to do so as well? We've established that they aren't hurting anyone, so why not leave them to it and trust god to punish them?
Also, since we have now established that it's a religious reason that being gay is 'wrong' and not one you can back up with any facts about how it hurts people, then why are you trying to deny gay people legal rights? Many of them don't believe in your religion - why do you have the right to force it on them? It's not a moral issue if no one is getting hurt.

Jaden - you say that it's wrong and not acceptable to be gay, but you can't give me a reason other than your Christian values tell you that. Since many of them, and others, don't buy into that set of values, then why do you think it's ok to force them on us? If you were Hindu, would you think it's ok to ban beef? Many people like beef, and not everyone buys into the purely religious idea that it's bad to eat beef. To me, it's the same thing - soley a religious issue, not belonging in law.

Tony - that is NOT true. I'd like to know where you got that statistic. Remember, lots of straight people are also dying of AIDS - what did they do wrong?
AIDS is a horrible disease, but it is not gay-specfic.

Nikki - I know that STDs are more easily spread through anal sex, but remember, plenty of straight partners have anal sex as well. Besides, that's what condoms are for. And plenty of straight people are promiscous too. It's not against the law to have multiple partners - wouldn't you agree that it's up to people to make their own decisions about their lives, right or wrong? If not, why don't we make alchohal illegal? Or cigarettes?
I do live in America, where civil unions do NOT provide all the same legal rights - adoption, inheritance, sharing of benifits - that marriage does. And in many places, civil unions are not even recognized as legal pairings after the last election (I live in South Carolina).

If we are going to invoke Leviticus to condemn homosexuality then we must also remember that the Bible calls for the execution of homosexuals. Not only that but it calls for the stoning of disobedient children and adulterers. I wish that fundamentalist/evangelical Christians would not be so selective in their application of scripture. And to the guy who says that 80% of homosexuals have AIDS? Where on earth did you get such a ridiculous statistic? I've never heard such rubbish in all my life.

In Genesis, God told Adam and Eve to "replenish" the Earth. You can't "replenish" something that wasn't previously "plenished." In other words, the Bible says that Adam and Eve were NOT the first people to inhabit the Earth. If you read Genesis, you will see that Eve was actually an afterthought. Adam was here a long time before God decided he needed a "helpmeet" - a partner. If Adam and Eve were married, who performed the ceremony? Who was the Best Man? Who were the Bridesmaids? Only when God saw that Adam was lonely, even though he could speak with all the animals, did He decide to create Eve. Taking this to its logical conclusion, God apparently never intended man to be anything but a loner. King David loved Jonathan "as his own soul." King David stated that the love he had for Jonathan was "greater than that of a man for a woman." God said in the Psalms that David was a man after His own heart. Did King David go to hell? According to the standards most evangelicals preach, he should have because he loved another man. (The Bible says that David and Jonathan sure liked to kiss alot.) Then you get into the whole mess about trying to apply Jewish Law to Gentiles (aka Leviticus.) On top of that, you have Paul, [who was a mass murderer (refer to the stoning of Steven), a convicted felon (many times over), a convict (many times over), a man that abandoned his wife (refer to the rules of membership in the Sanhedrin), etc...] saying that it is good for a man not to marry at all. So much for the Biblical basis for condemning homosexuals to hell...

Many people call how the Christians (I'm evangelical Christian) treat the homosexual lifestyle persecution. As Christians, we do allow you to have your lifestyle. We try to get you to change, for your benefit and for the benefit of those around you. What we don't do - which is what you want, is to condone it, label it as "marriage", to give it a special status. All men in this country have the same right to marry, whether straight or gay. You want us to change what marriage is.
I strongly urge all homosexuals to start voting with, not against the Christian Right. This country is being divided. Someday in the not too distant future, it will be a Muslim country (note that in the book of Revelation, at Armageddon there is no mention of a power on the side of Israel). When the USA is in Muslim control. then the homosexuals will know what persecution is.

I don't have a right to decide who goes to heaven or hell; I don't try to force attrition onto homosexuals or change their lifestyles, and I'm not denying them any rights; they can do whatever they want so long as it does not harm another person's rights; and the same applies to everyone.
There is that phrase "You can't legislate morality" but shouldn't the opposite be true also - "You can't legislate immorality". The government should simply be neutral, it should neither disturb their lifestyles or officially endorse them; the same thing with religion - the government should neither tell you what church to go to or keep you from going to a church. Gay people already have freedom to live their lifestyles, the thing is they want the government to officially endorse it. Thats problematic in the first place, but ultimately I don't think it matters. Even if the government totally endorsed homosexuality, God is sovereign and if he condemns homosexuals, then it doesn't matter what laws the government has in place. Still though, they're pushing the government to endorse them when the government already allows their practices.

If you are gay, and not just being gay because it's fashion or to be in, but truly feel different about the same sex, then you can't help it. As a person, I cannot judge you.
According to my religion, God does not judge you either when you die. YOU judge YOURSELF.
I'm sorry to say this out loud, but I don't think being gay is right.
READ THIS IN THE BIBLE:
Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
I'm entitled to feel this way. Men and Woman are distinctly different for a reason. The parts were meant to fit that way.
There is No Heaven or Hell as normal Christians make you believe. Heaven is a state of mind. Hell is not understanding, and not being at peace. It is a spiritual state.
If you were a good person in this life, never mind your sexual preferences, and you don't have a guilty conscious about anything because you were righteous, then I believe there will be mercy for you.
Be at peace brother.

It's not that gay people are going to hell, it's that anyone who lives and dies in complete rebellion to God, will do so at their own peril. Gays have the choice to change and the chance to, just like anyone else. You cannot live that lifestyle, or teach that it is ok and expect not to see just punishment for it.
It is clearly wrong as stated in the bible, I'm sure you've read the other posts and thus know the scriptures.
As to why not leave them alone. That's simple. God loves them too and as such wants them to love him and obey just like anyone else. If He does, then it is our charge to love them as well, not wanting to leave them to a fate that can only end in punishment. Leaving them alone as you say is another way of saying, you don't care about them at all, not truly.
That's no less than watching someone drown and doing nothing about it. They are the ones getting hurt.
Also, there are no true versions of reality, there is only one version of reality on this matter.....is God our creator or not?. This will be revealed or not at death.
I for one love people who are gay, and have had friends who were. they know I love them, and because of my honesty and love for them they in turn show it and respect for me.
I will never stop trying to pull them from the water.
2Choke, you need to read your bible. I Cor 6:10, Rom 1:26, Lev 18:22......there are more but read on.

actually, the gay lifestyle is mostly a sexually promiscuous lifestyle. not All gays have multiple sex partners but most do. so they Do hurt others if they spread STD's. same as sexually promiscous straight sex, this is just as wrong, but STD's are actually spread easier through anal sex. As far as forcing religion on gays, we live in America, they don't have to choose religion Obviously. what legal rights are you talking about? if they want to have the same legal rights as married people all they need to do is have the Civil Union.

girl its not religious reason people dont like gay.
In China say thats the country that forbits religions gay people are still very hated. Gay people spread many disease and some gay people also have mental issue and have sex with tons of men. a lot of gay people have sex for negative reasons not LOVE. I am just saying many gays are dirty and spread disease to innocent others. thats the main reason why they are hated i think. And the way they have intercourse is unnatural and kind of gross, but its just up ones view i just simply get grossed out about the gay intercourse its not lovely. If they love each other they should just be best friends for life and share somethin good like wisedom not disease and hate.

Whoever said that its in the bible that homosexuality is wrong and goes against god's word should take time to read the bible. it doesnt say ANYWHERE that Homosexuality is wrong. it's more likely that people interpret some of the Bible to mean what they want it to mean, but that's their problem.
Homosexuality is something that happens, and has happened for hundreds of years; i don't get why it's so taboo in today's society, especially with older generations. Also, God, if u believe in Christianity, gave us FREE WILL. that meens we get to CHOOSE. so we can choose who we have relationships with, an other people can't choose for us.
If homosexuality is a sin, doesn't God forgive sins, anyway? And people bringing that argument in should remember Jesus' teachings; theres one particular one: Let He Who Is Perfect Cast The First Stone. Basically, he who has never sinned can point the finger, but as we all know that we all have sinned anyway, then that kinda defeats anyone who's argument was that being gay is a sin.
If everyone could accept all of that, we would be one big step closer to equality in this world...
I also think that everyone who doesn't like gay people for whatever reason, be it religion or their "promiscuous lifestyle", is just scared of the unknown...
