I was recently hospiltalized for suicidal thoughts, severe depression, and extreme anxiety in public. I've always had these diseases but they worsended when I tried to take Wellbutrin to control it. The psychiatrist I seen basically told me I have borderline personality disorder, bipolar, ADHD, and OCD. Well he did not exactly say this but I told him that I was diagnosed with ADHA when I was 16 (i'm 26 now) and told him I would feel more controlled if I were on Adderrol again. He also prescribed me Prozac for my depression and my 'OCD' as he put it. And finally I was prescribed Klonopin for my severe anxiety and insomnia. He had me fill out forms for the boderline and bipolar and I had every symptom of those as well. The medication is helping except the klonopin makes me sleepy and he wants me to take on after breakfast. My question: have you ever hear of or know anyone taking this combo of drugs and is it possible for one to have all the disorders mentioned previously? Any advice?

Of course, 'Bad M' you would know being that you were born to parents with mental illness yourself. Sorry it caused you to become a walking freak.

A lot of people with Bi-Polar exhibit signs of ADD (or ADHD) and OCD. It's not another illness altogether, but is often a puzzling part of the Bi-Polar disorder itself. Your best bet is to get on a good mood stabilizer and supplement with anti-psychotics or anti-depressants as needed. I think one of the better combos is Lithium and Lexapro. You don't need all of those drugs. Just the right ones. Deal with the Bi-Polar first and I think you'll find that a lot of the other problems resolve themselves.

Antidepressants coupled with benzodiazepines are a common therapy for the conditions that you state. The number of disorders you have listed seem a bit unlikely as you seem to have every psychological condition possible. I would suggest seeing another shrink. If you have bipolar depression, prozac could make the condition worse, so I dont understand why this shrink is giving it to you instead of a mood stabiliser. And all these drugs are horrible in the long term, been there. There is continuing evidense that antidepressants can actually worsen depression and suicidal ideation. Plus you cant take them for life so you have to learn to deal with the underlying problems of your anxiety and depression. I would suggest cognitive behaviotal therapy and exercise instead of cocktails of chemicals docs give out to help people. Klonopin is highly addictive and will be a hard hard drug to come off so I suggest you use it very sparingly. And I wouldnt suggest adderall as mixing them with antidepressants is dangerous and can worsen anxiety and insomnia, plus cause a range of other psychiatric problems.

I also was on klonopin and Prozac,, while both worked well the klonopin did make me sleepy. maybe your Dr. could cut your dose so it wont be too strong and make you less tired< depression is a terrible thing and people who has never had it has no idea how it hurts !!! not only you but everyone around you , PLEASE DONT TRY TO HURT YOURSELF AGAIN,, I've also had those thoughts but after all is said and done, the ones you will hurt are the people you leave behind. from what you say you've been diagnosed with , it seems as they might try some different meds to get you adjusted to your illness,,, I wish you well , good thoughts and peace in your life ,,,prayers to you !!!

I had a serious bipolar 3 years ago, so I had both severe manic and severe depressive attacks. At the last manic attack, many people caught me with difficulty and took me to a hospital. (But depression was the worst thing.)
So that you are a serious incident, I think you absolutely have to find a good doctor. Then he may probably decide to keep you in a hospital for a while. I did, for 20 days. Also you may get electro schock cure there. I got, for 6 times. It has some small side effects, but treats very very well.
Did your doctor recommend ELECTRO SCOCKbefore? Think about it!
The doctor must measure also the LITHIUM level in your blood at least every 6 months or so. It is very VITAL. The lithium triggers manic attacks. (I am constantly taking a drug called Lithuril 4 pills a day, for 3 years)
If you do not want to fall into manic phase, always sleep well. DO NOT stay awake during nights.
If you fall into depressive phase, believe me that it will absolutely end one day. Do not lose your hope and will to get well. I am giving you a strong advice now:
WANT TO GET WELL!
Yes. DO WANT TO GET WELL!
In depression, one does not want to get away from that damn mood. yes, its weird, but it was the case for me. This is wrong. (I undestand this when a good man prayed for me to get well. I thought that, I must also want to get well.)
PRAY GOD TO GET WELL.
FIND A GOOD DOCTOR, DO WHAT HE SAYS.
Pray! If possible 5 times a day.
Read Quran.
Always do what your (good) doctor says. Always be patient, be thankfull to Allah(God). If you are thankfull, then you are from within the winners.
Bye. Veysel Peru

You may be free of medication someday but now you need to be calmer and look for a friend who is an outcast like yourself. Brain burning pills help for a bit but if you don't try to make it on your own it will soon be too late. Yes there is an insult unto death. I don't think you had it. You need to live and learn where the depression came from a long time ago.
