I once asked a friend what her views on religon was and she told me this.

She thinks that at one point in time, many moons ago there was only one main Religon. She thinks that over time this Religon had shattered into little pieces (like broken glass) and a whole bunch of people took a piece of it and travled along to all ends of the world with them. She now believes that this Religon will one day get peiced back together as more and more cultures come together and share their beliefs.

What's your belief on this ?? what are your views on Religon ??

Hi Kevoboi....

I like the way your friend visualized the concept of the 7 churches.....

yet, I beg to differ on some accounts.....

I do not believe that all these "pieces" will come back together to share beliefs, I do, however, believe that the 7 churches are different parts of a great body.... all parts make up a whole..... These parts do not likely think the same as they have individual characteristics which make them unique, thus they were each given names to identify them......

They shall be judged according to their worth, and what they have accepted.....

These churches are people......

Ginger

From a scientific standpoint religions developed to meet the psychological, environmentas, sociological needs of the particular people wher the religion originated and as such is not suitable to anyone that is not genetically descended from those roots. That is why religions are differnt, becasue the needs of the cultures were and ARE different both then and now. Eventually, I hope people will return to their ancestral ways and when that happens the majority of psychological, and sociological problems will almost spontaneously cease to exist.

What she is saying kind of goes along with my philosophy about religion. I believe that the biggest trick the devil has played on mankind is the dividing of religion into far too many camps. Perhaps this will come to pass when the suppossed "end of times draws near". I also believe that organized religion is the wall between us and the divine.

i suppose you could make an argument. like how many different cultures have a flood myth. but it's far more likely that these "similar" beliefs were just borrowed from one culture. but in the old days ppl like to equate some of their dieties with the dieties of other cultures. like zeus and jupiter and all that groovy jazz.

so, in a nutshell, you could make an argument for it, but i kind of doubt it.

my views on religion go as follows:
-there is no god
-if there is a god, he's incredibly evil, i mean look at the world!
-church is boring
-i don't care

Religon means belief, even those who don't go to church have beliefs. The best way to find The Church is the one that preaches and keeps ALL the commandments of God not just 9 of them, satan has a counterfit, A fake to everything God has as real, the Way you find the real one is to compare what The Bible says [not out of context, read all the verses around the one your looking at and take it in context] try out The Seventh Day Adventist Church, they worship on Sabbath which is from Sundown Friday until sundown Saturday, Jesus as was His custom went to church on the sabbath as did His deciples long after He went back to heaven sunday is a man thing, free bible lessons www.itiswritten.com bible questions www.bibleinfo.com talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com

When I pray. I say GOD if you are there show me the way. I have learned not to follow others unless I am told to do so by instinct...

So far I follow my own heart. That is all. MAN cannot be trusted.

I also believe with every ounce of my soul that this place is hell.

I sort of like what your friends philosophy is though. It fits for me.

Religion is not a hobby, It is your core belief and moral system. It is integral part of who you are.
Religion also has the concept of the afterlife, usually for eternity.
we are on this earth for 70 years, NOTHING COMPARED TO ETERNITY, so you should put more thought into it then say, your next vacation your taking.

Learn, choose, then live by your decision

This is an interesting question. Does what one believe about religion make what it a truth about real religion?

All religions can have some truth to them but the better ones are the ones that have more of the truth and the BEST one is the one that is closest to the truth.

Hope that helps somewhat... God bless. ^_^

The tower of babel speaks of people trying to build a tower of god than god scattered the people and giving them different languages so they could not communicate with eachother to built the tower to reach god or the heavens.

However if you take study to the basic doctrines of faith you will see many similarties. It is interesting to look at religions before boats.

I like that. I think everyone has their own path, everyone has something that fits them. Currently, I'm trying to find out what religion suits me.
