The creed uses the word "hell" to mean the grave or tomb.

We know Jesus went and freed the just souls who had been detained in the Busom of Abraham (Paradise, Purgatory) waiting for redemption, but there would have been absolutely no reason for him to stop by hell, since nobody ever gets out of there.

Hashem just show Him all the corners of the world, as Jesus Christ will become the main judge on judgement day.
He knows everything about God`s spiritual way,
He too knows being a human in this world (having different biologic senses, emotions, love, hate, hope, desires, belief, etc), and He should visit the hell too for a situational knowledge when bad spirits will have their eternal sufferings.
To have actual sensing and experience of everything will make you very responsible in dispensing duties. Isn`t it?

Jesus went to Hell if you are referring to "the grave" but He did not go to the place of torment that is reserved for judgment day. The Scriptures say that Jesus went to "Paradise" also known as Abraham's side when He died.

There He preached the Gospel to those who were believers according to the Old Testament covenant - explaining that the perfect sacrifice has been made. Concurring the grave so that all who believe can now be with Him forever!

Yes the Son of Man decended into the lower parts on the earth for three days and nights, and rose again on the third day. The scripture backs it up in when Jesus says in Matthew 12:40 "For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth". Jesus did not suffer in Hell, he went to preach to the spirits in prison, the spirits on the days of Noah. He probally anounced to the demons that they have lost, and has now taken the keys off Satan, the one who before Jesus death held the power over Death. Satan has indeed been defeted as he is a defeated foe. The rightous dead who died obaying God before Jesus died were waiting in a place called Paradise, and the other place for the unrightous dead was and is still Hell(Hades)Paradise then was deep in the earth at the time, and the rightous were waiting for Jesus to redeem them so they could be in the presence of God in Heaven. Remember the dying thief of the cross, who looked at Jesus and said "Lord, remember me when you go into your kingdom". And Jesus said to him"I tell you the truth, for today you shall be with me in Paradise. And he ment every word of it. Meaning his soul went on to be with the Lord, as Aposile Paul said to thoes that die believing in Christ he said"Absent from the body is present with the Lord". Jesus did preach to the spirits in prison when he was in hell, the spirits where of the days of Noah when God wipped out the world with the great flood.

the bible just said he died. They did not go into specifics. The whole notion of him going to hell for three years was the result of a bored Christian who over thought things, and made this up.

he went to hell, because hell literally means the common grave.

if you look at Job for example he asked to be concealed in Sheol (hell) would anyone ask for that if it were a literal place?
Acts 2:25-27
this scripture speaks of God not allowing Jesus to spend time in Hell or Hades why would he allow his son to suffer at all?
the fact is he didn't when Jesus died it was like a deep sleep as it is for everyone, you hear nothing see nothing think nothing until you are resurrected

It depends upon what you term hell to be. Hell to me and from what i've read in the scriptures refers to the common grave of mankind. So if this is what you mean, yes he went to hell and was there for three days before he was ressurrected by God.

He went to hell for three days. Which is interesting because he told the criminal on the cross that on this day he will be with him in heaven.

YES HE went down to HELL for the purpose of wresting the KEYS TO THE GATES OF HELL away from SATAN. So that on the day of judgment all could be released .
