If u r asking geographically then all those who are living in Indian sub continent are Hindus. It usually applied to the Ganges Plain of N India, between the Himalayas in the north and the Deccan plateau in the south. Used variably throughout Indian history–generally in contradistinction to the Deccan of peninsular India–it gradually came to mean the whole of N India from the Punjab to Assam. The term Hindustan has also been applied to the whole Indian subcontinent. Mughals gave this name to the people living in this area. It is a Persian name.
Later on, British start calling the religion of Vedas as hindusim. It is a Western term for the religious beliefs and practices of the vast majority of the people of India. One of the oldest living religions in the world, Hinduism is unique among the world religions in that it had no single founder but grew over a period of 4,000 years in syncretism with the religious and cultural movements of the Indian subcontinent. Hinduism is composed of innumerable sects and has no well-defined ecclesiastical organization. Its two most general features are the caste system and acceptance of the Veda as the most sacred scriptures.

No I am not Hindu by both religion vise and geographically vise.

Hindu is a geographical location. Those living on the south side of the River Indus were called Indus by the Arabs in the late 7th Century. They eventually called all inhabitants of India Hindus.

As a religious application, no, I am not a Hindu Alhamdulillah. Wouldn't be caught dead worshipping a cow.

Yes.I am a proud Hindu. Its real name is Sanatan Dharma. Eternal Religion. Strange no other religion dare to call themselves Eternal Religion. Thats why it is here even today. All the eastern religious faith is influenced in one way or the other way by Sanatana Dharma.

I did not choose it, its my way of life. Sanatan Dharma or Hinduism is a living religion. one has to live it. it cannot be contained in few verses like those in bible or qur'aan. All eastern religions are peaceful. hinduism being the mother of all religions has a better standing than all others. hindus do not get down to mock at other religions. we do not derive any pleasure from it.

hindus are not to believe in anything. the originators knew that its useless to force anything on others. they trust the people who had lived their righteously. they know that freedom brings more trust. we are allowed to experiment with everything, which is not allowed in western religions. thats why hindus are more balanced in thier view on everything. they do not get down to violence to prove anything.

science, technology, medicne, art, culture, knowledge, meditation, yoga are all living hinduism. everything is godly, divine for a hindu. thats why he worships nature, animals, trees, fire, wind, lighting etc. hidden meanings for these have to be understood.

This part is for those unworthy people around here:
There are a few guys here like aziz who loves ridiculing us. Ask him to read the history of his religion. what good have they brought into this world. NOTHING. they are afraid of hinduism, not because hindus attack them. but the philosophy, the knowledge handed down through the generations alaways remained fresh as there is always scope for further addition to the exisitng one and improvement on the existing ones. aziz, learn something in this life. you dont even know anything about my religion, but i know everything about your religion. i was never impressed with islam. its approach is very crude, inhuman.

Salman Rushdie was right when he wrote the "Satanic Verses". He was telling the truth.

Yes. I adopted Hinduism because it corresponds to my own direct spiritual experiences of God. (other religions came close...I've studied a lot of religions, but Hinduism overwhelmed me with just how complete it is to sharing my own experiences and understandings and it shares my spiritual goals)
