1 stick = half a cup. There are 4 sticks in a pound which would mean that 2 sticks = 1 cup.

Also, if you use stick butter it is usually in 4 oz. increments, so two sticks would equal a half pound. Each stick is a half cup of butter so the answer would be one cup of butter is in a half pound.

one... the best way to measure that is to get a measuring cup and fill it to 1/2 cup with cold water, then add butter til the measuring cup shows the water level to be 1 cup.

1 level cup of butter or margerine = 8 ounces or
1 level; tablespoon = 1 ounce This way it is easy to remeber
