It's odd because I'll hear the song and I want to buy it, but by the time it's for sale I'm tired of it and don't buy it. What is the logic of playing the song to death before it's available in stores?

I know it is a marketing strategy, which is why I put the question in this category. I would like to know the logic of this strategy and why they think it works better than releasing the album when the song hits the airwaves.

to ensure that the song is recognisable by the time that they release the cd. If they releases both at the same time, it would still take a bit of time for sales to pick up as people would not be familiar with the songs.

Have you ever bought the CD single to the song you've heard? Then on the single there maybe a remix and one song from the album. It's all to keep you hyped about the artist. When you buy that single and the whole album...the record company is singin' "Mo' Money, Mo' Money".

Example: Usher's album "My Way" (yes I was dumb). I had the "You Make Me Wanna" and "Nice and Slow" singles. And the album.
I bought that jewerly he wears.

Becasue its a tease. They are teasing you into trying to think what the rest of the cd sounds like. I've fallen for that many many times
