On average, a navel piercing is not fully healed for at least 6 months, though it can take up to a year to fully heal for some. I would wait at least 4 months if I were you, but don't push your luck. If you are worried about something happening, wait.

If you change the jewelry too soon, you can cause healing to be set back months at a time, you can get an infection if you tear your skin while taking out and inserting the jewelry, cause soreness and increase risk for the piercing to start migrating and it may even form a keloid if you traumatize it.

Right now, the outside might look healed and there might not be soreness or puss, but I can promise you that the inside is still healing a bit.

A well treated navel piercing takes a minimum of 8-12 months to heal, although the outside will look healed sooner. You must keep up the aftercare for the full healing period.

I would wait till then before changing it seeing how you can get an infection ( due to the oils on your fingers) while doing so if it is not fully healed.

at LEAST 6 months. Don't rush into changing it. No matter how bad you want to....you don't wanna risk the chances of getting an infection. Piercings heal at different time for different people.

I got mine pierced back at the end of May and I changed it in early July.....bad mistake. It should've been healed by now but I didn't listen and was too eager to change it. Until you see no redness or puss, and the skin isn't peeling off and it's been at least 6 months than change it. But if you can't wait that long....wait at least 3 months although it might prolong the healing stage. Remember to clean it with Dial or some type of anti-bacterial soap every day. DO NOT use alcohol or peroxide to clean it and no type of ointment. Unless your piercer sold you some stuff to use.

At LEAST six months, sometimes longer, deeper piercings such as those in the navel and nipples require a long healing period. Always keep something in it and wash the piercing every day, even after you think it's healed.

At least 6 months. They take forever to heal, and changing the jewelry too soon will prolong the process. Call your piercing place and ask them what they think. A good piercer is going to say they need to see it first.

you should really wait untill it is fully healed before you change it.
Just keep the one you have clean and turn it daily. Once you are sure it is healed, no blood, no drainage, no scabbing..
Trust me, you will know the difference..
For me it took about a month and a half before it was 100 percent , truely healed.. ( but mine is not a traditional or "regular" piercing, I have a deep piercing..there is a big difference )

It usually takes it 9 months to fully heal but I would say maybe 10 months because you just want to be sure it's done healing! Everyone is different though! Just see how it heals and have the piercer to do it though!

Wait at least 2 months. If it is infected do not mess with it. And make sure you clean it twice a day every day with antibacterial soap.
