Surely having your dad put you on a sacrifice bed with a knife pointing towards you would be something of deep psychological trauma no matter that he didn't follow through with god's joke -- especially if you're just a child when it happens. How is it that god is a-okay with this type of child abuse?

very solid question as a lot of people don't comprehend this. God had already informed Abraham that from Isaac could come a brilliant united states of america. So, if he died that doesn't have occurred. God grew to become into the only which informed Abraham to kill Isaac. That grew to become right into a try of Abraham's faith in God. He surpassed with flying colours as he had Isaac waiting as a burnt offering and then a ram confirmed up. Jehovah God does not enable it to take place. that's something it is taken out of context each and all of the time. to verify it with discernment is what's mandatory right here to get the component to it. the element is: Abraham grew to become into honest to God and grew to become into keen to do even though He informed him to do. we are to be a similar on the instant. not trouble-free i comprehend, yet look how Abraham or perhaps job grew to become into examined. we produce different issues in our lives on the instant that try our faith. would all of us be so honest because of the fact the adult males of previous have been to Jah.

From which part of the Bible narrative do you conclude that Isaac was psychologically damaged by the episode? People who have never experienced God's reality in their lives will never understand those who have that experience. And surely Isaac will know about how God has opened the womb of his mother Sarah at an old age. Isaac knows God, do you?

God wasn't testing Abraham, he was testing Isaac. Isaac failed. Part of honoring your parents is making certain they don't gone wrong paths and fall into error. You are not required to simply rubber stamp everything they want to do. If something is wrong, because divine law says it is wrong, then it wrong, even if the divinity tries to countermand the order. Isaac should have stood up to Abraham. He didn't. He failed and God made him more a less a place holder until the next Generation. All the important patriarching was done by Abraham and Jacob. Issace became just a bridge.

Unfortunately it is a common misconception among Christians that Isaac was still a child when this happened. The word that was translated as "lad" in chapter 22 of Genesis, should actually have been translated as "young man". In some Bibles you will see a footnote with that information.
If you read about the rest of Isaac's life you will find, that he seemed to have been far from traumatized. He himself continued in the belief of his father Abraham.

Thank you! I've always wondered this myself. I thought the story would be very interesting to view through Issac's eyes.

Today we would call this kind of thing child abuse and take the child out of the custody of this parent. But our morals aren't like gods, are they? (Good thing!)

how about Him being comfortable with the sufferings of His only begotten son Jesus so that we could be saved?

why diont you look at the obedience of Isack,(and Jesus) .this kind of obedience is not common today. Isaak knew that HIS father was doing the right thing.that is the kind of realtionship we should have with God,our Father.
sto[p fighting the word of God, just trust and obey, for there is no other way
