I received a most wonderful gift for christmas of a digital camera. This camera has worked very hard for me, but, the memory card has suddenly gone " ka putt". Says there is only memory for 3 pics. There is no information about the card in my Camera handbook, & the internet just wants to tell me where & for how much I can get another. LOL, help! I need to know what went wrong before I get another. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

You need to reformat the card. If that doesn't work it's time to get a new one. I had problems with a discount brand card and ended up throwing it away. I only use Lexar cards now and have 4 of them from 256 mb to 2 gb and have had zero problems. A new 256 card is very inexpensive now and will be on sale soon for Christmas.

No sure if this is your problem but it was mine.

I was on my PC and I want to put some data on the card, it said that there was not enough space, so I delete some files. Still not enough room. I delete files which were bigger than the file I wanted to put on the disk and it still said it there not enough memory.

Turns out although it was supposely moving file from the disk to the recycle bin, it was not removing the files from the card. I had to empty my recycle bin, before space became available.

hope this helps

Format the card, either search the camera's menus for a format option or right click on it in my computer and choose format. Choose "FAT" as the file system.
