If you are in a relationship and love each other very much, but don't share the same/similar fundamental values and principles (not TOTALLY different), is there any chance the relationship can go long-term? (e.g: he prioritises self-achievement and you prioritise family)

YES. there is an equal chance for two people with conflicting principles to have a successful relationship as that with those whose ideals are the same. however, both person must learn to respect each other and each other's beliefs and learn how to give and take. Love can oftentimes mean compromise, if they could accept that, then maintaining a relationship for a long period of time is very possible.

Sounds like you are judging him. You may not know where all his priorities and values lie. I think in any case when opposites compliment each other well and love exists anything including a long term type of relationship can grow.

Fundamental values are the aim of life and love is the game of life. Do not mix or compare the two.

Those 2 people are not in the same place right now, and should think about moving on.

I think some difference is acceptable...but at least, you both should want the same thing in life...i mean you both should have one major goal that you both can move towards no matter what small differences there is between you...
