It is indeed child endangerment and if the child dies in an accident because he was nto strapped in, she could be charged with homocide. You can only really ignore it at this point or call child protective services or local law enforcement. It may cause a rift in the family, but it could save his life. If the is this neglectful of his life now, how will it be when he is older?

Well, there is a law about this for a reason - kids are safer if they are in a carseat when an accident occurs. That being said, it wasn't too long ago that no one was wearing seatbelts and little kids were sitting in the front seat.....But tell your grandson's mom, unless there is a reason why the kid won't sit in a carseat, she should comply with the law. For the boy's sake.

This is surely endagering the life of the child. I have a one-year old and find it very difficult to get him to sit in the car seat. But realize there is no safer way for us.

Please Please Please put that child in a car seat. If she has to stop that child will fly forward. You are the grandma jump her butt, tell her how could you treat my grandchild that way. If she gets caught without the child in a seat it is not only a heavy fine, but she can be held and charged with child endangerment and go to jail.
