Most Christians oppose gay marriage for unrealistic reasons.
Actually, I'm straight, been married to the same man for 37 years and I know a few gay/lesbian couples and I can assure America and this democracy that none of those unions have hurt my marriage in the least.
If only Christians would support the human race as a whole instead of picking those they "think" fit their mold, we really could have peace.
Look at the horrific wars fought in the "name of God" that only bring death and destruction. Gays and Lesbians are just another notch in their pompous belts.
We all have freedom of religion in America. We also are supposed to be protected by the separation of Church and State, but it just isn't happening.
Christians have destroyed our rights. The government gets blamed because they follow the polls like sheep to slaughter.

You're partially right and I am a Christian who is personally against gay marriage. However, the political question is more about benefits than "can a homosexual couple live together". In this country people of all sexual orientations are entitled to certain rights and freedoms - these are not in question. What people are fighting for are a few benefits that married couples are entitled to.
The problem with giving them these benefits is where do we stop? If thousands of years of traditional marriage values are thrown out then why can't you marry your pet, or your sister, or have multiple wives consisting of an encyclopedia set.
The Christian conservative is not trying to take anyone's freedom just maintain a standard that has been excepted before this county was formed.

Here is what our founders actually thought about the relationship between God's word and our civil laws...
George Washington: "Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, Religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great Pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and citizens."
James Wilson, signer of the Constitution and original justice on the U.S. Supreme Court: “Human law must rest in its authority ultimately upon the authority of that law which is divine…far from being rivals or enemies, religion and law are twin sisters. Indeed, these two sciences run into each other.”
Sir William Blackstone, whose commentaries were often the final word of the Supreme Court, wrote, “The doctrines thus delivered we call the revealed or divine law, and they are to be found only in the Holy Scriptures. Upon these two foundations, the law of nature and the law of revelation, depend all human laws; that is to say no human laws should be suffered to contradict these.”
Samuel Adams, an original signer of the Declaration of Independence:“Just and true liberty, equal and impartial liberty, in matters spiritual and temporal, is a thing that all men are clearly entitled to by the eternal and immutable laws of God and nature as well as by the law of nations and all well grounded municipal laws, which must have their foundation in the former.”
John Adams, our second president, wrote in a letter in 1776, “Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for Liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand.”

I am a christian first and a patriotic American second. There are many passages in the bible that talks of war. that God ordered battles to happen. and also give Cesar what is ceasers and give God what is God's The bible also says there is a time for war and a time for peace.
As for gay marriage. Again I am a christian first. As a christian I am responsible to uphold the bible to the best of my ability. The bible clearly states that men should not lie down with men. I am not out cursing gay marriage. It just my responsibility as a christian to relay the word of God. How God chooses to deal with these people is between he and their walk to make.
I have the same expectation of a church. If your church does not bare fruit (bring in new believers) than you must be doing something wrong. God does not give to those who do not follow his word. Churches included.

Evangelical Christians think no one should think anyway but their way.
They are patriot, only thinking it should be their way. They are trying to change our laws and Constitution to go with their beliefs. They are the most dangerous thing for this country, and it's freedoms.
Alot of these beliefs, carried by George W, Bush, have cause this country problems all over the world.

Better watch out....In a time of Tyranny telling the Truth is treason. But yea, it is a friggin funny story. But actually our army is not particularly combating for freedom. And take into account while Bush mentioned Iraq used to be probably the most damaging nation in the world?........He honestly satisfied the American folks that our Freedom used to be in chance.......But what he did not let us know used to be that Iraq used to be certainly not the danger to our Freedom.....It used to be the American Government itself that used to be the truly chance to our freedom. Fighting to preserve Our freedom...What a friggin funny story!

Marriage is a legal term not a religious one, that's why you get a marriage license from your state and not your church. Therefore any state that forbids same-sex marriages are in effect discriminating against certain people based on sexual orientation. Any state supreme court should recognize this blatant violation of human rights and strike down any laws against same-sex unions.

Unfortunately, the Christians who came to America were fleeing persecution because their version of Christianity was considered too intolerant. They wanted freedom to enforce their severe practices. And their spirit lives on today.

Interesting point, especially if one notes separation of church and state.
Christians are supposed to put others first, and to humble themselves towards others. I can understand Christians not marry gays, but to impose laws that other religions cannot marry gays seems foolish.
