Well, Starfish doesn't know what she's talking about for one...
It is a great movie though I think your question belongs more in the Psychology or mental illness section. I suggest reading the book. Coincidently I read it while staying in the mental hospital. It isn't scary but is so sad at the end.

Yes.
I would think scary isn't the right word. It can be disturbing a few times during the movie.
However overall it is an interesting film, and is well done.

awesome movie...it's more sad than scary. i absolutely adore will sampson (the indian dude in the movie). i got to meet him a few times many years ago when he came to our reservation while filming a documentary. he was a really awesome human being.
anyway, hope you like the movie.

I `did-years ago= I thought it was very interesting and showed a wide variety of characters-it had triumph and tragedy- Nurse Hatchett pushed the guy and he killed himself- and the big silent Indian got away- D

Yes,it is so funny. The main Character (portrayed by Jack Nicholson) wants to die,and ask another mental patient to kill him,but then Nicholson changes his mind, and wants to live, but the other guy is still determined to kill him.
