I do believe praying is important. Starting my day without God's guidance is like opening myself up to Satan and letting him destroy my day. I ask God everyday to keep me safe and to have a positive attitude, especially at work because I do not like what I do and I am tired of it. I ask God to keep my family well and thank Him for the things that I do have.

I don't know the precise chapter and verse (you can find it) but the Bible tells us to pray without ceasing. To make your requests known to God. The prayer of a righteous person avails much. Jesus Himself prayed as is pointed out in the Bible and Jesus gave a model for prayer in "The Lords Prayer." We are told to pray, praise, and give thanks. It's communication with God

the Bible says to give God the first part of the day and the only way you can do that is pray. Praying keeps us close to God.

Prayer is only important if you are praying in total sincerity and humility. If not, and your mind wanders, or you are praying for trivial things and reasons, I'd not consider that very important.

Yes, if you want a close relationship with God. It's the best way to "communicate" to Him. I look at it this way: I can't have a very good relationship with someone I never talk to or communicate with (as to what I'm thinking, how I'm feeling, what my needs are, my appreciation and love, ect.) Just my opinion/feelings, though. However you express yourself to God is good; I'm sure there are many other effective methods, this is just what feels best for me.

Prayer is our way of communicating with God, and with His son. You can not have a relationship with someone unless you spend time with them, talk to them and get to know them. Prayer is our way of doing that with God. God already knows us, but He likes us to know Him better. By knowing Him better we can live the beautiful life that He meant for us to enjoy on this earth.
There are different types and forms of prayer. Sometime we just praise Him, other times we might come to Him and ask for help for ourselves or for others. Meditation can be a form of prayer . What is called the prayer of quiet is a mediation where you just sit in the stillness of God and enjoy His company.
And prayer changes us. It helps us to grow into the image of Christ as we come to know God more and more. We become like the people we hang out with. When you hang out with God, you become more like Him as His spirit teaches you and leads you..
