Would you please explain me why those contradictions :

II Samuel 6:23.
Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child until the day of her death.

II Samuel 21:8.
But the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bare unto Saul, Armoni, and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barziai the Meholathite.

Question: Did Michal, the daughter of Saul, have no sons, or five sons???

I think it is interesting that you are so observant to catch all these contradictions!

Either way, whether or not she had sons is not hte actual question. It is "WHY are there contradictions in the Bible?" If it is all ordained from God, there should be no discrepancies. The conflicting information just proves to me that there may be other misguiding information, info that is more important to the religion than what you mentioned!!

Perhaps because you quoted it incorrectly. The NIV states that the second verse was about a different woman.

8 But the king took Armoni and Mephibosheth, the two sons of Aiah's daughter Rizpah, whom she had borne to Saul, together with the five sons of Saul's daughter Merab, [a] whom she had borne to Adriel son of Barzillai the Meholathite.

I have another answer for you. In 2 Samuel 6:23, it states that Michal, Saul's daughter, remained childless unto her death.

In 2 Samuel 21:8, it states "But the king took Armoni and Meribbaal, the 2 sons that Aiah's daughter, Rizpahhas borne to Saul, and the 5 sons of Saul's daughter, Merob, that borne to Adriel, son of Barzillai the Meholathite, and surrendered them to the the Gibeonites."

There is NO mention of Michal in 2 Samuel Chapter 21 at all. She never had children from any man.

Also, remember back then many men had more than one wife and had concubines, usually the concubines were servantmaids of their wives. And the wives would give their maids to their husbands if after a few years they hadn't bore children to them. It was very important that men had children, especially sons. So they married wives and had concubines (not mistresses, because the wives knew about it and gave permission to their husbands to lay with them in order to have children.)

Ah, The bible. Are these the only contradictions you found??? There are many more. The bible cannot be taken literally. There are several people telling the same story and every one is different. Archeologists are beginning to disprove a lot of the things found in the bible. The people who wrote it took natural events and turned them into the acts of god. Like Joshua marching around the city of Jerico and god made the walls fall down. Now they know it was an earthquake. Believe it if you must, but it is too much for me to take.

"the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barziai the Meholathite"

She raised them for Adriel, like a nanny or governess.

You read it right?
...whom she(Michal) brought up for(raised) Adriel the son of Barzai the Meholathite.

A person can raise/adopt/gain/ children and yet still have no child.

Ok, 1-4 was fine, and the answer has been given. Last time, almost the entire thing is wrong. Its written by a human, and has been utterly chopped and re-done thorough the many years in its existence.
