We look at physical records of the earths and mankinds
existance and then told by religious leaders to ignore our
own human minds and and intelect as the flesh and as such corrupted and not to be considered relyable. I have to wonder
if I being an intellegenge being created by my God in my Gods
image is supposed to assume that my God is also bonded to
have to believe the immaginary hogwash that is put forth as
divinly inspired truth. God I hope not.

Buddhism does not ask this of you, but only that you try the 'program' and judge it for yourself. You are asked to think for yourself about all the precepts and guidelines, and then decide. This is central to Buddhism. Main themes in Buddhism, like the law of cause and effect are not only easily understood and visible in life, they have also been proven by modern science.

I think most intelligent people should need a better answer than "trust me". It sounds too much like a con to me. But, for many people, faith is liberating and I would never deny them that.

Actually, this is how JWs developed. As more and more witnesses studied the Bible, it became evident the things they were doing wrong. In the beginning they celebrate holidays and were involved in politics, but as people challenged those beliefs, and showed evidence that they were wrong, the religion grew beyond what was common with other religions.

It's the only way they can survive. Science has been kicking religion's butt for years and it will continue. It really doesn't matter though, most people don't care about the facts or evidence. They'd rather live a bizarre lie.

No one is forced to adopt any religion against their will.

I for one, thoroughly researched over a dozen different belief systems before settling on the one I found to be true, beyond a reasonable doubt.

Otherwise, what's the point?

Many religious groups expect this of us but I do not believe that God does. We should question what we are taught but this should not necessarily nullify the doctrine being taught.
