My 10 year old Niece will "snap" and become extremely violent, hitting, kicking, punching, biting, scratching, etc. An example.......my Niece's Mother told her to quit wrestling with my Niece's older brother because she might get hurt. When my Niece got hurt she went crying to my sister and my sister told her "I'm sorry, but I told you this would happen, so there is nothing I can do for you". My Niece proceded to turn psycho on her and bit, kicked, scratched, etc. My Niece lives with her Father and he is not doing enough to get her help with this problem. Does anyone have a similiar situation with a child they know and if so, why did the child do this? Were they diognosed as being Bipolar or something. My Niece apparently has ADHD, but I don't buy it. She is on Riddlin (sp?) and has these incidents even when not on medication. What could be wrong with her?

Children that are treated well and taught well don't do this.
Clearly either she is being abused or at the very least, not properly taught how to behave. I don't know why she lives with her father. But judges rarely put children with the father over the mother, so there is clearly some existing issue with the parents.
You should contact social services in your neice's county and let them know what's going on.

What happens after she turns "psycho"? Does she get what she wants? It could be her way of controlling others or the way she has learned (possibly by watching others do the same?) to protest a situation or response from another. Did this behavior start recently or has it been happening for a while? There are many factors to consider. A psychologist or counselor/therapist may be useful in helping to assess and change this behavior. The behavior doesn't necessarily mean that she has some mental health condition.

My son is 10 and when he was younger he did the same. He tried the violent thing a few times. Only a few! You have to catch it at the source. Unfortunately 10 is a bit old to be throwing these kind of tantrums. When my son did such a thing, I waited till he was finished. Once he was calm, I explained to him why I was fixing stomp his @zz. Then I proceeded to whoop him into next week. He is 10 now. I have very few problems with him.

Google - lubners shalom in the home - and try to read as much about this episode. The same age little girl with the same rage issues. It was a great one. Ends up that the problem was with the parents not the child.

I have a son that is ADHD and takes meds for it. However, he continued to have behavioral problems and was always angry and eventually became violent. Per the doctors and psychiatrist anger / violence in children is a sign of depression. He was put on an antidepressant and literally within the first day we could see a difference. Over this past summer he stopped taking the antidepressants and the anger showed back up. Hope this helps with your question.

She has probably seen dad act a certain way and so she's doing the same?! Does she live with him alone?! Maybe that's her way of dealing with the crap she has to at home. I can't imagine it's easy for her to be living with her father who doesn't care to get her help! She seems to have ALOT of anger issues...maybe enroll her in some sort of karate class or something that will teach her to respect herself and others, it will teach her discipline! THe fact that she does this when on meds..PROVES that she's got something else wrong...alot of anger!!

i recognize that some cat's grow to be violent in the journey that they have got tasted blood, I mean like raw meat in case you've been cooking and some by twist of destiny dropped on the floor it also might want to intend that they are in some variety of soreness and that i might want to attempt taking them to the vet.

It's called PUBERTY. Some girls get it worse than others, however I would say the hitting and kicking is a LEARNED behavior that she was taught in the home. Maybe from a parent spanking her when she was younger.
