I sent my cousin this ointment for his sciteca pain.
he said when he applied it.it was burning like hell. he felt his leg is on fire.

it is 1 month with pain in that area where he put it..........now with other medicines pain is less but his leg feels very heavy.
on my advice he took the ointment to a doctor ,who told him this ointment damaged his nerve,
pls. let me know if it could happen?
I feel so guilty......he was taking care of his elderly father day and night , who broke his hip bone and now he himself is in trouble.

I have used it for more than twenty years.

It is made from peppers, so yes, it does burn a bit at first, particularly when one sweats. Hot showers can be uncomfortable too.

Capsacian works gradually. It is important to follow the package dirrection.

I doubt this could have caused nerve damage. If he has nerve damage it was most likely preexisting.

It is actually one of the best OTC treatments for chronic pain. It has been in use a long time, if nerve damage were an issue it would have been taken off the shelf years ago.

Capzasin ointment should not cause nerve damage as this is merely the same thing as hot peppers. I do not see how it could have damaged his nerves since it is hot peppers. Perhaps someone else will have a different side to post. The main thing with this ointment is to use just a teeny tiny dot of it and rub it in. If it burned him that bad when he put it on it sounds to me like he didn't read the directions and applied more than tiny bit.

capzasin (capsican) is a hot pepper extract. Yeah, it can feel like it is burning, but usually it only lasts a few minutes. It did wonders on my hips and knees. However, he may be allergic to it or it just may have been too strong. I have a roll on type that I use.
Don't feel guilty, honey, you were just trying to help him.

It never did any nerve damage on any part I used it on. I put it on my shoulder too, because I have bursitis in it and it sure helped that too.
