why should we care. Is this gonna help us make an important decision. 28:10 is about building a sound doctrine, might be important if a person actually read their Bible.

29 is about a cursed group that in future times fights against israel, however it is not very likely it pertains to anything happening today, because most of those residing in Israel are not genetically Jewish. The enemy however does resemble Islam.

3-9 hmm don't think this is a good time to live near Ninevah. and who is it resides beyond the rivers of etiopia.. Isn't there a group of black Jews that live there.

I doubt these have any relevance to today and if you think they do I think you need to be the answerer not the questioner.

pretty sure this is about us today but open to the possibility

Let us see.....

The first one, is symbolic of those who have understanding in the mysteries of the "kingdom"...... a vision, if you will. The book is something that is not going to be offered to the wise and all knowing.... and so as those who seek to understand will give it to one who is seemingly "all wise"... He will not know.... because it is sealed off from his great mind...... the one who is wise will have no choice but to admit he knows nothing about it.....

The second.... Verse by verse....and line by line.... With another tongue..... In other words, hearing they may hear, but not understand....... ((Make sense??))...... See Mark 4:12.....

For the third,...... There is a verse and I am at a loss to find for you.... Something about a new song which is sung before the throne of God...... the people, I believe are the 144,000......

Ginger

I don't read the Old Testament.
I've never heard of Zephaniah.

I like your question. The quotes you've used imply that an uneducated man and a partial message written in a language that a person relates to....can have a great influence on the reader.

I sensed an intent of peace and unity under one God.

I'm going to refer you to W. Cleon Skousen's commentaries on the Bible, which I have at home but not at work. They are called the "Thousand Year" series.

Isaiah 29:12
At the time that Isaiah utters this portion of his prophecy, the leaders of Judah do not have faith like that of Hezekiah. They have drunk themselves into a spiritual stupor by means of their alliances with ungodly nations. Spiritually drunk, these leaders are unable to discern the import of the vision given to Jehovah’s true prophet.

“Upon you men Jehovah has poured a spirit of deep sleep; and he closes your eyes, the prophets, and he has covered even your heads, the visionaries. And for you men the vision of everything becomes like the words of the book that has been sealed up, which they give to someone knowing the writing, saying: ‘Read this out loud, please,’ and he has to say: ‘I am unable, for it is sealed up’; and the book must be given to someone that does not know writing, somebody saying: ‘Read this out loud, please,’ and he has to say: ‘I do not know writing at all.’” Isaiah 29:10-12.

Judah’s religious leaders profess to be spiritually discreet, but they have left Jehovah. They teach instead their own twisted ideas of right and wrong, justifying their faithless and immoral activities and their leading the people into God’s disfavor.

How repetitious and strange Isaiah sounds to them! He keeps repeating himself, saying: ‘This is what Jehovah has commanded! This is what Jehovah has commanded! This is Jehovah’s standard! This is Jehovah’s standard!’

In the original Hebrew, Isaiah 28:10 is a repetitious rhyme, rather like a child’s nursery rhyme. Thus, Isaiah’s message sounded repetitious and childish to the religious leaders.

At Isaiah 28:11, we read: “For by those stammering with their lips and by a different tongue he will speak to this people.” Isaiah’s teaching sounded to Judah like foreign babble. Although Judah survived the Assyrian menace that overwhelmed Israel, in time Jehovah dealt with Judah by means of another foreigner, Nebuchadnezzar. The Babylonian language sounded harsh and stammering to those Hebrews. But they were forced to listen to it when Jerusalem and its temple were destroyed in 607 B.C.E. and the inhabitants were dragged off into Babylonian exile. In the same way today, Christendom will soon have to suffer because, like Judah of old, she ignores God's exhortations.

Zephaniah 3:9
Through his prophet, God promised: “I shall give to peoples the change to a pure language, in order for them all to call upon the name of Jehovah, in order to serve him shoulder to shoulder.” (Zephaniah 3:9) In these last days, it is Jehovah’s Witnesses who call upon the name of Jehovah, who serve him unitedly in an unbreakable bond of love, yes, “shoulder to shoulder.” They are the ones to whom Jehovah has given the pure language. This pure language includes a proper understanding of the truth about God and his purposes. Only Jehovah provides this understanding by means of his holy spirit. To whom has he given his spirit? Only “to those obeying him as ruler.” (Acts 5:32) Jehovah’s Witnesses alone are willing to obey God as Ruler in everything. That is why they are recipients of God’s spirit and speak the pure language, the truth about Jehovah and his marvelous purposes. They use the pure language to praise Jehovah earth wide on a huge and growing scale.

Speaking the pure language involves not only believing the truth and teaching it to others but also harmonizing one’s conduct with God’s laws and principles.

Survivors of the great tribulation will work to make the earth a paradise and will continue to speak the God-given pure language. In principle, to them apply the words: “All your sons [and daughters, of course] will be persons taught by Jehovah, and the peace of your sons will be abundant. You will prove to be firmly established in righteousness itself.” Isaiah 54:13, 14.

True Worship Unites People

To unify his people, Jehovah gives them a pure language. This new language includes a proper understanding of Bible truth about God and his purposes. Speaking the pure language involves believing the truth, teaching it to others, and living in harmony with God’s laws and principles. It calls for shunning divisive politics and rooting out of the heart selfish attitudes, such as the racism and divisive nationalism characteristic of this world. All honesthearted ones who have love for the truth can learn this language.
