Yes, some people have legitimate medical problems... but there is NO excuse for becomming 300lbs or more. I understand some people are emotional eaters, but why blame their past or depression instead of themselves for 1) buying the junk food, 2) eating it in mass quantity, 3) not making any serious effort to change?

I understand it is really difficult to live at that weight, but why can't they view it as a disease like cancer, and really make an effort to take care of their health? If you were diagnosed with cancer, you'd adhere to whatever diet to cure yourself, correct? Why not do the same when "diagnosed" with obesity?

I disagree completely about it not being easy to buy healthy foods. Sometimes people say it is more expensive, but I beg to differ. Rice, beans, barley, oatmeal, fruits (in season), vegetables, pork, chicken and so forth, are all extremely cheap... and ultimately buying raw foods like that is cheaper than buying processed/canned/packaged foods. I've lived both ways and buying raw foods is always cheaper.

I don't know about obesity being a disease, but if being a chubby chaser is, call the doctor, I am sick!

Emotional eating is no different then being addicted to drinking, drugs, food, T.V. watching, exercising, smoking, etc. except with emotional eating, we can visibly see the consequences.

Learning to stop is difficult and can also put on weight as emotional eaters try to lose weight by fad dieting. Please be nice and keep in mind the following:

You already know how to lose weight. You know that if you eat less and exercise more eventually you’ll see the pounds come off. What’s getting in your way? Why do you usually regain the weight you lost? The answer to all these questions is the same “Emotional Eating.” Simply defined, emotional eating means you eat to satisfy emotional hunger; it means you use food for comfort or as a way to cope with life; and it means you eat for reasons other than what your body needs. Whenever you reach for a boredom-breaking snack despite your commitment, or whenever you eat to quell anxiety, that’s emotional eating. Whenever you binge after a fight, or double up on portions because your day turned sour, that’s emotional eating. Whenever you feel that sharp craving for your favorite food, that’s emotional eating. When we eat during these times while on a diet, we believe the diet doesn’t work or that we lack self control and then look for the quickest way to lose weight (fasting/diet pills, ect) after eating all we can since we already messed the diet day up.

Get control of your emotional eating and any diet will work. Best of Luck !

true ,True,, nobody likes to say I'm lazy with no self control and cannot resist putting anything I may slightly crave into my mouth.
On the other Hand, food companies have been bombarding children with fattening non value calories 4 so long.It is pathetic.Kids have brand loyalty by the age of seven, and yes food companies do add ingredients to make u crave that food more. Never mind the super sizing.....MARY

I agree with you 100%. I just love when someone says they are over weight because they have 2 kids.I just clear my throat and say I have 6 kids and did not continue to gain after I gave birth.

because of another disease called denial.

Also it isn't always a question of eating healthy foods. Overeating and lack of exercise is even more of a culprit that what you are eating.
