We are considering taking him with us when we go for our Christmas vacation (7 days). But he has always been in sunny San Diego. He is 8 months old. Will it be a shock for him? Or will he adapt to the weather change without any problems? What can I do to prepare him for this? Thanks!

I wouldn't worry. It sounds like his mix breed gives him plenty of hair. Where I live we go from one extreme to the other and the dogs all do fine. When it is below 30 degrees I put a sweater on the ones with thin coats, but your dog should do just fine.

Just remember a good crate and blankets, maybe a doggie sweater and a favorite toy... bring those with and he should have a blast with you~!

I'd make sure to bring a doggy coat, or some warm blankets. Sometimes it's not so bad out here, but there's always a chance of freezing weather.
I'd recommend checking with the places you'll stay at for their pet policy, or if your with family, and to see if they will let your dog stay close to you.

Are you flying or driving? If you are driving, you will have to take him out of the car to "go" ever few hours, so he would get acclimated slowly that way. If you are flying, take him out for a few minutes at a time at first. After a while, he will get used to the change. Also, get him a doggy sweater (maybe boots if it's snowy?). Good luck!

Buy him a coat and heavy blanket to put in is bed. Coat is to wear when you take him out. He should be OK if not left outdoors for extended periods of time. Just to do his duty and back inside.
Good luck.
